Die also cannot

First cannot drawdown CPF early. Next, no subsidy to die at home. So how?

"Mr Khaw wants to survey Singaporeans on their preferences so that his Ministry can accommodate the last wishes of the terminally ill."

Please don’t take too long. We can’t die on cue. Hope that this heavy sell is not just a new trick to clear beds at  hospices. Keep our CPF, increase estate duty and screw the dead.

  1. Hi KT,

There is a Study in USA of retirement age Vs age (Enddate) and is shows the inverse , those who retire at 50 reaches 82, while those retiring later at 62, dies earlier at 72.

So this may be one way to ensure there is enough money so retirees don’t end up living longer and having no money, by making them retire later ??

    Cheers

  2. Ron @ #3,

Projecting on your numbers on a straight line, if you retire at 67, its a death sentance.

Now you know why we are working towards a CPF withdrawal target at 67. If you think that you will only see your money over your dead body. You could very well be right.

    Look on the bright side.

Retire at 30, warranty expires at 100 plus. Imagine 70 years of fun, bliss and wanton indulgence. The look alone on your annuity manager’s face would make it all worth while.

  4. I am daunted by a seepage problem from the external wall of my apartment.I could not identify the source. I was advised to get the help of a chartered adjustor.

Is any member in SHC could help? You could also share if you have similar experience.

Please recommend a reliable person if you have one or two in mind.

I can be contacted at foosungbay@yahoo.com.sg

  5. When there’s a desire to do smthg, finding justification from this good earth is easy so to legalise prostitution, you hv ozland, denmark to cite their good practcies where they’re unionised.

When you need to make people go home to die on their own beds, the japs come to mind.

We can go on a tirade frenzy but i suppose that is to be vented at a cofishop since you cant shoot too far here without x-ing the OB marker and putting T’rence in a trance.

    I know.

Its horrible to have to be told that you want to die at home. And then, as if, dying not enough. The wall must also leak.

OK let me try to help. First quick questions. Are you living in HDB or condo? On top floor?

    Wanna die also not easy.

The best we can hope for is to die in our sleep in a hospice bed on their account before they empty us out on the street without a cent to our name.

  8. ……..then the streets get very crowded with angry, desperate people and then the grapes of wrath fermenting and then they see some dogs and then inspired by the dogs (remember the saying bi gou ru qiong xiang – force dogs to a deadend corner?) and then people start to bark & dogs start to bite and then…………….

  9. Tim @ #11

    Not necessary.

The madness is in inaction and inertia. This is more frightening than anger. A species which loses the will to survive will cease to exist.

The lesson of the Matrix is that more people want to return to sucking tubes in their artificial womb than to face the real brave new world.

Our lives is in our hands. It is our choice to take it back or give it away.

Next time, you feel the Urge, try sucking your thumb instead.

  10. Reallly, and trust me KT, I enjoy yr Zen talk fr the zenith altho it’s a hard swallow minutes before lunch.

Inaction/inertia of the masses has allowed the mediocre to rule and lord over us and while it’s frightening, it remains history lived and will be repeated.

Those who watched the movie Matrix are no exception, of cos, even if the lesson learned to bring home is tube or thumb sucking.

Given a choice, which do you pick?

Me hazard a guess…hmmmm, a born winner, you probably want both……….wrong?

  11. Tim @ #13

    Nah…

If we have to think then think bigger. Top of the food chain. Feed on human energy in return for dreams. Blue or red pill. We win, they lose.

Back to our own story. In our “Computer Planned Future” (CPF), we don’t even have a pill to chew. Just do it. Can’t even switch the bloody thing off.

  12. KT, you nah, I even more nah………I nah nah nah nah all the way and then into a whimper lalalalala…….for my kiddo.

Think big, dream gigantic. Sure, if you hv retired and are sitting on a bounty, with no world’s woe to worry.

Thus, we hv butties like Dennis dating his 2 new found gfs at bus stops, then walk round the river of inferno, all fired up, hymning and harping even as a bigger number of folks slog away for their next meal.

It’s fair cos we’re talking of folks in different circumstances, some having planned their retirement early, with different levels of “what’s enough”.

To each his won, and bliss is to those who hv arrived, measured according to his own yardstick. Not anyone else.

  13. Tim,

Human nature will never fail to amaze. You are absolutely right. The latest changes are some of the most challenging to the post war baby boomer generation. You and me.

So its either everybody feels that they have arrived and will not depart, or they have not heard the bell for whom tolls.

Look it this way. Either they are pointing their guns wrongly, or the two of us are screwed.

  14. KT,

Precisely, so it was a senseless bullet from one with more cents in his pocket than sense in his brains which took the lives of JFK, Abraham Lincoln, even Anwar Sadat…..but how many really cared what this pretty world wd hv been if they had stayed alive?

Most love to sit back, turn on the goggle box and watch those silly dramas or to find idols in people who wd otherwise hv idled away their lives.

It’s sad but who are we to judge ?

Ultimately, if one finds happiness at one’s doorsteps, why traverse the world to look for trouble just to wear the salvation armband?

Maybe, if we cd mutually find the time, we can meet at Shirley’s cofishop with Jenghis Khan, Mujahidin Khan and all the Khans to hv a fun time gunning away.

Heeee, you just cant fathom how many khans we can hv………………..
