United Bank of Singapore (UBS)

Yee yee.

There is a difference between "Hee hee" and "Yee yee"

"Hee hee" is when you make a joke about an investment that could go boo-boo. You joke about money not enough, having to work till you die  and how you could be living in the five foot path.

"Yee yee" is after you have sunk $14 billion yesterday and found today that the investment posted "the biggest loss ever by a bank after raising fourth-quarter writedowns on securities infected by U.S. subprime mortgages to $14 billion." This is when you joke no more, brush up your resume, wash your tent and start check whether you qualify for social welfare.

  1. Aiyah, why aur you so kan-cheong?

All these must have been taken in the calculation, and who knows, in their numbers, they actually had a $70bil loss in mind and wow, great, only $7bil writedown……….

We must respect them as visionary, staring out into the long long future so long that when the day of accounting comes for the pingat mas award, we cant even find the guys who keep their ashes.

So relac lah, go join me & my ahmad butties to strum the guitar in the void decks til we all go gila and so forget the susah………

  2. I know of only 2 bintang.

The first is Jln Bintang in KL where I once painted it yellow, spreading my yellow culture there.

Another is Bintang Emas, a thoroughbred who had its unique character : it bit other horses all the way to the wire but no less, a winner.

Will let all other bintang shine from high above as a beacon of awakening to those still inebriated in and obsessed with power………….

  3. Do your civic duty and stand up for Singapore.

Do you part, count on you and many more……

Let you Light shine and your Saltiness be tasted……..for the better and greater future for your children and your children’s children ……….Count on us, Singapore…..

    Sons and daughters of Singapore……

  6. Please gentlemen. The country owes you a debt of honour.

We are eternally grateful for your sacrifice. Drive your car and balance our budget.

If he had known, Winston Churchill would have stood up in his grave and saluted.

“Never in the field of human traffic was so much owed by so many to so few. All hearts go out to the transport drivers, whose brilliant price increases we see with our own eyes day after day…”

  7. #8 correction…

“Never in the field of human traffic was so much owed by so few to so many. All hearts go out to the transport drivers, whose brilliant price increases we see with our own eyes day after day…”

  8. Hi Wong…noble thoughts indeed. All drivers should be happy to acknowledge this. Personally, I interpret this simply as, “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”. They know the car is necessary for many and they invented the ERP.
