  2. I forgot to mention.

In case of bribes, all cards and cash accepted. Hee-hee.

Unfortunately, I am not the judge. This is left to our beloved leader and founding member, Terence. (That’s the least we can do to show our appreciation for his underwriting the tables and making the SHC Flea Market a reality)

The judge will have the final say and cast the deciding votes in case of a tie breaker. Otherwise, he doesn’t need to do anything except to shake hands and kiss babies. (We will videotape who he is kissy).

We learned from our Mentor Member. I have delegated the task of moderating the Singapore National Dish Contest to none other than our Dennis Har. Provided we can squeeze him back into his suit again by Sat.

Our moderator is chosen on merit. The merit of food preservation. Otherwise, he may be tempted to finish off all our delicious National Dishes before the start of the competition.

  3. Hi KT,

Now I can only comment but not post. Its a great ideas and best of both world. One side to fill our tummy and at the same time have a change to experience how much can USD $10,000 Euro-USD trading account really generate.

Will this be better than our current CPF return?

Lets find out. Its all about your own Fund.

Recently, I had try some web page design to share with those who like it at

    http://www.singaporenetworkers.drivehq.com

    Any interest do email me.

  4. The battle for hearts and minds at the primaries of Singapore National Dish gets underway.

There is tension in the air. The vote is split along party lines, interest groups, the rich/poor divide and cultural lines. Candidates are lobbying for votes making fierce behind-the-scene deals.

Black vs White – Black Pepper Chicken Chop vs Hainanese Chicken Rice.

Tradition vs New – Yong Tau Fu vs Teriyaki Chicken Chop

Local vs Foreign – Mee Pok Dry vs Udon Teriyaki Salmon

Rich vs Poor – Black Pepper Chicken Chop vs Roti Prata

  5. You have just got luckier.

Scorebot has up the leverage on the winners pot. The winner will get the first blood for a full micro account with a leverage trading amount for USD $200,000!!!!

The winner’s account will starting auto-trading on the following Monday when Europe opens (4 pm Spore time). The first profit made autotrading a USD $200,000 limit will be given as prize to the winner of the Singapore National Dish contest.

  6. I hv trusted ah yew pek for as long as he lives but now begin to demure………unlike what he told me, there is such thing as a free lunch.

So ah yew pek reading, you must go check it out come saturday 15th. Who knows, you can be USD200k richer than what you already hv?

Whatever, I’ll hv my late late lunch at scorebot….no free lunch but will pay cos, not least, they hv done a great job tying the loose ends together (and offering the loo for use) so that the SHC flea mart can take off………………….

  7. KT Wong,
From what I understand, buying just one meal will qualify a person for the contest right? How to show proof of purchase??

But in order to vote 5 favourite dishes, one must taste first or is it just a case of ‘TIKUM TIKUM?

Unless I can find 24 other people who will buy a different dish each and then share with all of them…. hahaha.

Then again, who is the ONE who will decide what the 5 dishes are? Or have they been chosen already and the result locked up in a safe deposit box somewhere??? Hahaha.

    Another question.
What will the prize be if you don’t make a profit or are you 100% confident of making a profit? Hehe, not being skeptical, but……

  8. Merry MaryC, you very bored huh? Ask so many questions for what when the pot holds USD200k so even buying all the 25 dishes averaging $10 per dish (Total $250) you still make SGD(200,000 x 1.43) minus SGD250 (me too lazy, you work it out yrself).

Now, I can see that yr eyes start twinkling and you are already laughing ahead of yr trip to the bank………………..but dont trip along the way there hor………..

  9. KT Wong,

Just noted that Terence will be the ONE to decide. So, I better ‘curry’ favour with him huh? ;-)

Let’s watch Terence sample all 24 dishes. It will be fun to figure out his facial and body language, hehehe, while tasting and after finishing all 24 dishes. He’ll probably be blue in the face or should I say green? Hahaha.

  10. Tim,
I think the prize is not the USD200,000. It’s the ‘first blood’, which I take to mean the profit. Am I right KT Wong?
Surely Scorebot is not so rich as to give away that kind of money???

  11. MaryC, not acurate to watch Terence savour all the 25 dishes, go wait for him outside the loo……the dish hardest to come out (which means he retains it longest) has to top his selections…….and also keep some po chai pills & charcoal pills on standby…..

Scorebot has to be rich to go by the jingle “where everyone is a winner” so USD200k isnt too much to give-away.

But I’ll still waill pay for the one and only dish I buy and wont want to pay the price of watching Terence purge to win any prize…………..so you’ll hv fewer competitor to jostle with outside the toilet, heee.

  12. Mary @ #8

    Excellent questions.

“From what I understand, buying just one meal will qualify a person for the contest right?”
    – Yes. One meal, one vote.

“How to show proof of purchase??”
    – Your vote will be registered at point of ordering your meal. You will also get a voucher. You can buy the meal and eat later.

“But in order to vote 5 favourite dishes, one must taste first or is it just a case of ‘TIKUM TIKUM?”
    – No. It is not about a particular version or serving. This is not a tasting contest per se.It is about the concept of the dish in question. Eg. does chicken rice have what it to be the national signature dish. Does it have the widest international appeal. Will it do for Spore cuisine what Spore Sling did for cocktail. Will it put Spore food on the global map. Will it bring honour to the country.

“Unless I can find 24 other people who will buy a different dish each and then share with all of them…. hahaha.”
4D, Toto, Big Sweep – all the same. gamblers unite. The problem is to find people to share your trade-a-USD$200K account prize. It’s so easy why not take it all.

“Then again, who is the ONE who will decide what the 5 dishes are? Or have they been chosen already and the result locked up in a safe deposit box somewhere??? Hahaha.”
    – You decide. You choose five out of the list of candidates posted above. Like Toto or Bingo. Ahhh…. Mary, you are looking at gaming pros. When we create a game, not even Soros can stick his nose hair pass us. It is totally fair. Not even the organiser or judge can steal a base. Everyone has the same chance to win.

“Another question. What will the prize be if you don’t make a profit or are you 100% confident of making a profit? Hehe, not being skeptical, but……”
    – Can lose – meh? Didn’t you attend the previews. Or you were not paying attention. Stop staring at the speaker and listen to what he says. The end of the world is more likely.

I am a reborn capitalist. Come and watch on Monday how a rookie grind Europe to dust.

Taking a leaf from our great leader, we are reformed and seen the light. It is better to give than to take. Giving gives one a sense of heightened spirituality and humanity. It lifts you up. You feel particularly weightless when you have nothing…….

    Hee-hee

  13. Clarification –>

One meal voucher, one vote. You can claim the vouchers in the future. You don’t have to eat it there.

Get it dummies!!! You can be a superdelegate and vote with 1000 vouchers.

    Hee-hee.

Actually we are limiting the number of vouchers per head, but you can buy a few.

Complains, complains, complains. Offer 200K and they want a million. Money never enough. No wonder CPF is cutting back and leaving you guys high and dry.

  14. Hi KT

    Would you like to explain:

    1) What is the essence of this USD200,000 auto trading USD/Euro accounts?

2)Trading in the order of USD200,000 or a capital credit amount in the account?

    Thanks

  15. I believe KT is referring to “FX” market.

Trading currencies on margin lets you increase your buying power. Here’s a simplified example: If you have $2,000 cash in a margin account that allows 100:1 leverage, you could purchase up to $200,000 worth of currency-because you only have to post 1% of the purchase price as collateral. Another way of saying this is that you have $200,000 in buying power.

When trading foreign exchange, you are always quoted a 2-sided dealing price where you can buy or sell the trade currency. The difference between the buy and sell price is the spread.

When trading forex you will often see a two-sided quote, consisting of a ‘bid’ and ‘ask’. The ‘bid’ is the price at which you can sell the base currency (at the same time buying the counter currency). The ‘ask’ is the price at which you can buy the base currency (at the same time selling the counter currency).

Sorry maybe too complicated to understand.

Well just remember Tim said #7 : So ah yew pek reading, you must go check it out come saturday 15th. Who knows, you can be USD200k richer than what you already hv?

  16. TY, Patrick.

Is $2,000 the premium with 100 times leverage on price interest point (pip, resulting a “capital base” of 200K?

In this currency pair (USD/Euro) so the spread is the cost of transaction, yes?

How is gain made; when the strike price is reached?

In volatile currencies market, how are risks mitigated?

  17. What we are trading on Monday is the basic entry level Micro account. The leverage is 1:200. We recommend all newbies to start with USD $1,000 in capital and this will give them an equivalent trading amount of USD $200,000.

    One Micro Contract: USD$1,000
The value of 1 pip (0.01 lots): $0.10
1 lot = 1000 units of base currency
    EUR/USD pip value = $0.10

  18. Hi KT @20,

In principle, the SHC forum does not object to trading discussions, as long as the discussions are posted in the thread that it was intended for.

I object to the use of “We” in this forum, with respect to trading recommendations, as this is not in line with SHC’s objective.

SHC members reading or participating in any business, trading or investment should exercise care and caution, and be aware there are risks and pitfalls. Please be informed participants are totally and fully responsible for their own investments, risks and gains.

As we are a club for over 45s, I do not intend to be too restrictive on the discussions in this forum. Use this forum for fun and communication.

    Terence Seah

  19. Terence,
I don’t think you are being too restrictive. There’s been too much talk about investments and it seems to be taking over the website. Pardon me for saying so, KT Wong and company.
Terence is right. This forum should be FUN.

  20. Terence @ #21

You are right. Trading in anything is a risk-return activity. One can lose as much as one can win.

But all spheres of human activity also carry a level a risk. This includes driving, being born or getting married. Even money in CPF is at risk. As in everything else, the key to risk reduction and reward maximisation is knowledge, skill and experience. “If you gotta do, you gotta learn”.

But no trading recommendations was given on this thread by anyone. A trading recommendation would be one where one recommends what to buy at how much and when.

#20 was in reply to questions about how the prize for the Singapore National Dish will be run. It describes only the instrument to be used in that award. It is a straight contract specification description nothing more.

Let me give an analogy. If I say “we recommend that the winner will get to drive a BMW for a day as an award” this is not a direct endorsement for anyone to buy BMW or anything for that matter. It is a statement of fact.

A bad choice of words then. I apologise to those who may not understand and was offended. I’ll rephrase #20 for clarity.

“What we are trading on Monday is the basic entry level Micro account. The leverage is 1:200. This contract is for USD $1,000 in capital and this will give an equivalent trading amount of USD $200,000.

    One Micro Contract: USD$1,000 The value of 1 pip (0.01 lots): $0.10 1 lot = 1000 units of base currency EUR/USD pip value = $0.10 ”

This is given as an award to the winner of the Singapore National Dish Contest this Saturday at the SHC Flea Market. It is fun and free for the winner. All SHC members are invited to come to watch and judge how risky/rewarding it is for themselves.

Why Monday? This is the first day when market resumes trading after the SHC Flea Market event.

For those not familiar with this sport, it should be a mind blowing experience.

    Hee-hee.

  21. Let’s now talk about the Singapore National Dish Contest. I am still waiting for candidates to be submitted for selection.

Which dish do you think should be the National Dish?

  22. Hi Wong KT at 23,

………….The leverage is 1:200. We recommend all newbies to start with USD $1,000 in capital and this will give them an equivalent trading amount of USD $200,000.

    Whoa! so good meh???
It is better than buying Toto, 4D and Big Sweep where the chances are very slim.

What abt the disastrous effects of the sub-prime market and inflation in US esp. in the high risk Forex Trading ?

Now we are feeling the ripples ,wait till the Tsunami comes.

Terence is right and responsible to caution SHC members at 21, ……

( SHC members reading or participating in any business, trading or investment should exercise care and caution, and be aware there are risks and pitfalls. Please be informed participants are totally and fully responsible for their own investments, risks and gains. )

  23. Three essences of a healthy life comprise of a) live, b)work and c)play.

SHC Forum has established a meaningful platform for the three aspects of living with restrictions on clear taboos which are wise and purposeful.

Investing serves part of a meaning and purpose in work and active accumulation of reserves and working incomes especially we are expecting to live longer.

So long it is healthy and open discussion, sharing and learning, be they are for beginners, intermediate (observers) and better endowed, let it flows naturally.

  24. Hi KT :

Terence makes a valid point : the use of “we”.

In any form of live, work and play, there are risks.

How one manages and mitigates risks require knowledge, experience, understanding, mastery of relevant areas (be they EQ, IQ, MQ, emotions and relations building)and wisdom; and learning/avoiding from past mistakes of own and others.

  25. All concerns,

I’ll talk about the “Joys of Trading” on Monday when we are watching the big game and waiting for the first kill. All you “ever want to know but was afraid to ask” will be answered. Don’t fall off the building. Be patient. It’ll be auper-fun, dangerous and exciting. Like hot-rodding in a F1 for the first time. Especially for those whose idea of investment is fixed deposit and retirement is CPF. It will open the Third Eye.

Meantime, is the food list OK. No other candidates? Last call before we send to printers. For all the distraction, we are extending the cut off at 3pm today.

Remember that you vote on the list of dishes for the Singapore National Dish on Sat for a shot at winning the grand prize.

Consolation prizes. Also have. We may give away the award winning National Dishes as take-away, if available. Any other surprise prize sponsors? Unsold flea market items also can. Hee-hee.

Anybody wants to sell F&B on the day. Please contact us urgently. We love to have candidate dishes being offered. Like carrot cake and Hokkien Mee. We need 24 hours to make necessary arrangements for you.

  26. Hehe Jane Wong.
I guess some people find ‘fun’ in investment talks. When one makes money, it’s great, but talk, talk, talk about investments can get a little…..b… um, uninteresting, hehehe.Investment talks should be at investment seminars or classes.

Can you imagine Gibson writing about his accupressure methods etc here? Or people having their Chinese lessons or tennis lessons or cookery lessons or whatever here? The whole site will be bogged down and people who are not interested in that particular subject will be forced to sift through all the comments to get to the more interesting ones.8-O

I may be thought of as simple minded or giddy headed but I prefer this site to be lighthearted and a place I will go to to connect with some people about fun and interesting topics.

Apologies KT Wong, but I have had my share of attending investment talks. It’s a case of ‘one man’s meat….No offence meant. mwaah mwaah.

So guys and gals, are you all prepared for the D n D? Have you got your outfit selected or bought yet? I haven’t but I will probably recycle one of the old ones.
I will be spending quite a bit for my daughter’s wedding, so got to be thrifty for the moment, hehehe. Not rich leh.

  27. Hi KT

Please start an appropriate thread on Forex Thread and those who have multi and similar interests will communicate there.

Work, live, play, fun and on-going learning, meaningful sharing, joint activities and lively fellowship is multi-faceted and beautiful.

Most read ST, a fraction reads BT, a small portion read Economist and some prefer Time.

Selected lots read Law Journal, some Accountancy, yet some Teachers Review, some Mandarin OutLook, some golf, some tennis, some dancing, some speed reading; yet a few only ballroom – different preferences, portions, styles and tastes.

This earth is big enough for all kinds of interesting endless varieties, depths and breadths, topics and values.

Let us focus on the National Dish in this thread, though your offer of a financial reward to the food selection has some relevance.

  28. Hi Jane

Yes, taught Economics when young in my 20s.

Have taught Finance, Investments and Business at three varsities, corporates and NPB (now Spring)during working life.

  29. Very busy 2day, just got this bit of time to write this bit which may bite.

Come come KT, let’s go straight into the game.

The way I see it, the quantum of the prize offered is a princely USD1,000.00 which, allows you trade up to an underlying value of 200 times; thus USD200,000.00.

But the winner doesnt get to withdraw the USD1,000.00 which is in a trading account. Perhaps, only the winnings (i shun use of the word profit) can be withdrawn.

I recall how I became a casino regular. There was free but non-redeemable chips given to me. I lost, dobled up with, my $ and then continued and then………….

We’re all older than many adults and in this light, we shall make our own decision which will in turn chart our own destiny, whether it leads to Disney or This-silly………

  30. Hi, Tim #39. To clarify there is no USD1,000.00 required by any one who wish to know what is this leveraged FX game is all about. Scorebot will have the account setup for the winning Price. LOSSES scorebot take all. This price is dependance on our tested Auto FX system. Any way you will have your food and drink at the coupon price.

The truth experience is to understand a 200:1 leverage on a Micro account really means in term of Risk to Return(Reward) ratio as a Price to the National Dish Competition.

Any way, I will be doing the registration of the Dish selection.

    DennisH

  31. DennisH, you didnt read me correctly.

What I wrote was : Scorebot will credit the winner with a USD1,000.00 account which allows the winner to trade only (and not to take home) to commit up to 200 times the underlying value of the trade.

I’ll take this opportunity to add that in a mayday situation when the worst of the worst happens, the USD1,000.00 can expose the trader to a USD200,000.00 loss.

(Heee, I didnt want to say this earlier but since you write…………).

  32. Hi Dennis

On the Forex (credit)account prize for the National Dish during SHC flea market tomorrow:

Like to seek clarification that the risk/gain exposure is 200 times, yes? The trader is exposed to the magnitude of USD200K, both ways.

    Btw, is the prize cashable?

    2) How one trader mitigates such Forex risks?

    3) Does it mean the auto systems manages the risks factor?

If so, what are the parameters and how are they determined?

  33. A @ #33 and Mary @# 32

I tried. Very hard. Talk until white chicken turn black. But it takes two hands to clap. What happen to all the foodies and experts?

But the other extreme is censorship. And this is worse.

Actually all comments here will be restricted to answering questions to the Prize. I thought it is very simple to understand.

What’s so hard to understand? All you need to come down to Scorebot on Monday and see how much money you can make in how short a time. Its a fun thing that can be a lifelong learning passion.

Forget the maths and numbers. Its much harder to explain. It is much easier to experience it for yourself. So just come down on Monday.

  34. Tim et al,

Don’t bother to try beat the system. It is unbeatable. The only way to win is to win the Singapore National Dish. You are better off spending energy to select the winning list of 5 National Dishes.

Talk food now. Money we can talk on Monday.

  35. Singapore National Dish Prize

Its fun, absolutely easy and no risk. The Dishy winner will collect C A S H on Monday. How much depends on how much the USD 200K will make on its first profitable trade.

We fish for you on Monday. If the market shoots your way without stopping you can enjoy unlimited profits. But money on the day is just one thing. We will also teach you how to fish for yourself which is invaluable.

All members are invited to attend the event. This prize is first of its kind, ever as far as I know. So enjoy the ride and hope that you learn something useful for the rest of your lifetime.

Next month, we’ll plan a “Make-Money” reality show together with the monthly meeting.

    Hee-hee.

  36. Dennis @ # 40

WARNING – Dennis is in charge. So be quick. There is a tendency for all the National Dishes to disappear together with your chance at shooting the USD 200K pot.

    Hee hee

  37. KT. you got yo be very careful and leave nothing unsaid, esp in the midst of a guaranty given elsewhere turning out to be a goreng roti.

What if the market lao sai and nose dives? Will there be a margin call if the initial USD1,000.00 is exhausted, resulting in the winner diggingg deep into his own pocket to find no more money but a piece of hainanese chicekn wing bone, the remnant of 1 of the spore dishes?

If financial trading is a sure win there wont be a poor man………….

  38. Tim @ #47

    So many questions.

What to do then? If there is such thing as losses, we bear all. And if there is such a thing as down, we’ll play until it is up. And make money.

No risk. Only make money for the winner of the Singapore National Dish Contest.

Why? Tim, in life you also must learn to give. In case, you need to exchange the credit for a ticket into pearly gates. At our age, it is not too early to hedge our bets now.

Just say I am kind to the deserving…how does that sound on the CV for a job beyond for eternity?

  39. oops.

Pl change all “we” to “I” and all “our” to “my”.

    Cancel cancel cancel.

Whew! that was a close one. For a moment, I saw pearly gates opening.

  40. KT, with your assurance of absorbing all losses of the “spore dish” winner which I shall take it to be worth more than a guaranty, you hv probably said all there’s to say.

Of cos, you will allow the closing of the account one day not too remote, and all $$ in it……..winnings & all… to be withdrawn part of which will be sued to buy you a beer as you enter the pearly gates, passing me and I shall shake yr hand and say, well done, man of your words.

  41. Hi Wong KT,

What had the National Dish competition to do with the
    $ 200 000 prize ?

I am getting even more confused and puzzled by your technicalities and statements.

    Pls. clarify.
    Thanks

  42. Steven @ # 51 Tim @ # 50

Let’s just say if you win the Singapore National Dish Contest, you are sure to win a money prize. The amount of money that you win will be detemined by the profits made by trading live a USD $200K limit demo micro account. There is no capital funded; and you do not pay or be paid the capital amount. But you get all what the account makes in profits in the first profitable trade in the real market.

If you are the winner come down on Monday to collect your prize money.

If you are interested in seeing how trading is done successfully and learn something, come down and watch the show. It’ll be exciting.

But most important. Turn up tomorrow and try to win the Singapore National Dish Contest for yourself. It’ll be fun and educational.

If you have no clue what is going on, all the more reason why you should experience it to learn. There are also members to teach and guide you.

Later in the evening I will be moderating a discussion about the Budget, CPF, Annuity and Strategies. Whether you like it or not your retirement funds are being traded. You are probably paying a king’s ransom to the funds hired by CPF and annuity programs on your behalf to win/lose money for you. Check out whether you can afford them this lifetime.

Is it time you learn to be a bit more financially savvy yourself. You can probably bet your life you do! You will too.

White bread or wholemeal bread? At this rate you may be lucky to get any bread at all. Only you can make the difference if you know how. It’s fun to learn to trade.

    Hee-hee.

  43. Tim @ # 50

Thanks for your concern. I appreciate your effort to try protect me against myself.

Its hard for people outside expert trading to understand how safe trading can be.

It is not a case of foot-to-mouth disease. And don’t trust what I say. Trust what you see. No tricks?

Ter wants company to play hookah with him. He’s been working so hard. He deserves it. Why don’t you get the Smoky Bear Clan to join him after the flea market. You can pass the peace pipe around and wash it down with beer. Play with the babes in the Family Nite program….

    Hee hee.

  44. Hi WongKT at 52,

….There is no capital funded; and you do not pay or be paid the capital amount. But you get all what the account makes in profits in the first profitable trade in the real market….

    KT, you mean the
    US $200 000 as a prize????

    Too good to believe.
Anyway, will come to help out in the flea market tomolo for those sellers that needs to go for a short break.

  45. Stephen @ #54

No. not the USD 200K. Only the first profitable trade that the account makes. Which could be quite a lot. Depends on the market when you trade on Monday.

Here’s an analogy for you to grasp the idea. Let’s say the prize is a lottery ticket. You get to keep the winnings of the lottery ticket. But I don’t pay you the $1 that I paid to buy the ticket.

    Ahhh…. now there is light…right?

Please say “yes” so that I can go to bed. Its going to be a long day tomorrow. I am still preparing my talk. I heard that Tim is bringing a nuclear arsenal to use us for target shooting.

  46. A @ #17

Last one, I hope. Mustn’t miss you out.

The essence is no essence. In auto trading you don’t even trade. You just press the button to start and the machine will do the work. At the end of the trade it will just cough up the profit (or loss). Like having an ATM in your room. Treat it right it will pay out more than you put in.

Like I say, seeing is believing. Now you can experience it for yourself.

  47. Dear KT at #58

    Too good to believe, lah!

    Would you take the following:

    1) I am prepared to put in an initial capital of only SG$1,000 (and no more) with guaranteed positive gains within three or six calender months.

    2) My capital and no top-up guaranteed by you in a legally binding enforceable covenant under Singapore laws?

    3) Capital of SG$1,000 and gains to be returned to me by or before 15 September 2008.

  48. Andrew…..Good points. Would like to be be involved in similar terms also, if KT is agreeable to your conditions…

KT….How? If it works, you will get many more ‘investors’, win-win for you ;-)

  49. Hi WongKT at 57,

..Like having an ATM in your room…

Wonderfu1! I too would like to install one in my home.

Sounds more to me like the 1 Arm Bandits at the Las Vegas Casinos.

  50. Hi KT,

Just finished the editing of the dish coupon minutes ago.

It seem that our price offering for the NDC creates so much fear as to lost lots of money. Its is a Live demo account where we are converting it as cash for the winning price so please don’t worry.

Let start the National Dish Competition and you really like to find out the real system in action then don’t miss it. We have client funding real Big amount just to test us in real live ALGO TRADING.

What I had try to arrange before may not be able to be offered again.

Jonathan Ong i know you are very keen but you may miss it. Sorry for that.

  51. A,J #58 2 #60

Hello. You wanna get me into trouble with the Amazon detail again. I will be fried chicken if you continue this way.

Talk about food until Singapore National Dish Contest is over. We can talk money over hookah and beer.

Retire on our terms. Stand taller than Steven. Why let someone tell you to “work till you die” so that they can live in the lap of luxury.

I am amazed that you guys really have low standards of expectation. Demand more of life. You should deserve it unless you are really screwed up. Buy me a beer and I’ll make you an offer that will make you wet your pants.

    Hee-hee

  52. Hi Andrew Kuan/KT/J. Ong ,

Too GOOD an opportunity to miss.

I too would like to invest as terms stated by Andrew ; GURANTEED positve gains within 3 or 6 months. Why not?

Better terms than equities, FX , fixed deposits and bonds.

  53. Hi bros,

Lets come to reality. Banks may use the word “GURANTEED” but if I may say, lets look at some forms of “Capital Protected” instrusments and if endosed by a Bank not the DnAssociates will you like to see it.

Sorry, I am not promising any thing but just to see will such ideas be acceptable by any silverhairs.

    DennisH

  54. Hi KT at #57 and #63

Are you game with my suggestions at #58 ?

I have realistic expectations with you, just 30, 60 or 100 times will do.

You pick which of the three practical choices?

An enforceable binding covenant under Singapore laws will do.

  55. Referring to #62

    Algo Trading :

How does it work? The buy-side trader picks which strategy he or she wants, then fills in the order ticket with parameters – such as start time, end time, the order type and the duration or time frame over which the order must be completed. The model analyzes the security’s trading pattern and processes other data – such as liquidity of the stock, volatility, the spread and the bid/asked price – and then slices the order into a series of trades. An order for 10,000 shares may be broken into 40 trades and executed over the entire day, or several hours, depending on how aggressive or passive the buy-side customer wants to be. The computer might sell 200 shares, then sell 300 shares, then buy 400 shares, all in a random pattern to mask the goal behind the strategy so an institution remains anonymous and other participants don’t catch on. It used to take a human being thousands of keystrokes to break up orders; “algorithmic trading” fills a void by doing it by computer.

Still too complicating for an amateur like me to understand.

    Have a Nice Day

  56. Hi Patrick Yeo,

Did we met before. Are you the one which had discuss with KT on Travel Club before.
From your description on a buy side order and the mechanics of order filling you are very much ahead of most of our SHCians. The real Algo is very complex and its totally script base written in C++. Come forward and help in the SHCic and see how we can help all SHCian who can spare US$1,000 as RISK capital to possibly have a small to BIG consistence passive income. With emotions remove I personally believe its a reality and a challenge to a Trader. I will appreciate if you can post in the SHCic threads. The originator of the thread will response.

    DennisH

All are welcome and KT is there to see to any of your questions related to computer trading. We will be there to share our knowledge to SHCians on the night but I have to leave by 6pm.

It may be very technical but look at the simple side of it and its “Set and Forget” but intervent only on contingent.

    DennisH

  58. Hi Dennis,

I’m the one whom had discussed with KT on Travel. We’ve met at scorebot just once.

However, I’m really an ametuer in this FX stuffs but given time and money, I may be able to pick up fast.

Well I thought our Singapore National Dish is “Mee-Goreng” as STB is promoting it.

    Have a Nice Day

    Patrick Yeo

  59. Hi Patrick

Which month did STB promote “mee-goreng”.

I think they also promote ” Chilly Crabs” during the last quarter in 2007 and offered all tourists free taste of chilled crabs at selected seafood outlets too. Stand corrected please.

    Uniquely Singapore.

  60. Hi Andrew,

It was from news gathered on January 02, 2006
Mee Goreng as the National Dish of Singapore
    » food singapore
Recent Runes said Think about it. It is cooked by an Indian Muslim in Ghee, using a Chinese wok, with Chinese cabbage, Hokkien noodles, Malay chilli padi, Indian mutton (marinated with the Sup Kambing) and American Ketchup.

The promotion of Singapore’s national dish should be based on it’s cultural merits, i.e. ability to represent Singapore!

Correction on your article on Chilli Crabs as Singapore National Dish – please read on :

London hosts Singapore Chilli Crab Festival
    31 August 2007

For epicureans, Singapore’s unofficial national dish – Chilli Crab, served with a delicious tomato and chilli-based sauce – will be on offer as well as chicken satay, Char Kway Teow (a delicious rice noodle dish) and Hainanese Chicken Rice. To satisfy sugar cravings, there will be a number of sweet sensations including Ice Kachang (a sweet ice dessert really popular from market stalls in Singapore) and Bur Bur Cha Cha (a delicious tapioca dessert) among others. Chilled bottles of Tiger Beer will be on hand to cool the spicy flavours.

You are right to say Uniquely Singapore. I’m promoting it everyday.

    Have a Nice Day.

    Patrick Yeo

  61. Hi Patrick Yeo,

Come forward to the SHCic we need more ppl like YOU. As I am recently more occupy can you come forward to help this SHCic. We can share some simple TA technics together.

By the way our own SND competition top dishes are 1)Hainanese Chicken Rice, 2)Char Kway Teow and 3)Chilli Crab. It go to show our sampling is GOOD and representative.

    DennisH

  62. Thanks, Patrick

Was mee goreng been promoted in Jan 2006 and chilli crabs in the second and third quarters of 2007 by STB?

What are/will be promoted in 2008?

  63. Hi Andrew,

Yes I’m with STB as License TTG.

It seems that there is NO FIX Name for our Singapore National Dish yet.

On May 1st.’2007, The Sacramento Bee mentioned that Singaporean food guide “Makansutra” is one of the country’s leading culinarians, says without equivocation that chicken rice should be Singapore’s national dish.

What I perceived from most of the FOOD articles gathered, STB is merely introducing Singaporean’s best known FOODS and DRINKS for the benefit of EATERIES as one of it’s itinery.

So our National Dish can be anyone’s favourite dish. Such sumptious, mouth watering and authentic dish remains only in the heart of the beholder. As the proverb says : One man meats is another man poison. We have differences in taste and liking – how can we ever compromised to make it as Singapore National Dish.

    Have a Nice Day.

    Patrick Yeo
