  1. Hi Lim Tian Soon, Lim Tiang Soon, T S Lim.

Greetings from Lim Tian Soo, T S Lim. T.S.

    Welcome to this forum.

I thought someone has written another profile for me.

Do you know that over 90% of members here have Christian or other exotic names. We and a few others are the ord ones… still old fashion.

In order that there will not be any confusion among members and with the permission of our Lord Terence I shall like to change my name to Charles Indra Noel Andrew, Lim.

In short call me CINA Lim. Having worked with earth worms and poor people I am happy to be a ‘Cina Apek’.

You being a forex trader may be able to help me understand. I just lost $200,000 on NZ an Aust$. and still trying to figure out why currencies backed by real commodities are less valuable than US$ born out of printing machines and bullshit and this despite that fact the truth is in the open.

Maybe the moral of the story is the fake Cina Lim will do better than the real Lim Tian Soo

Hope to see you one day……Smile and Be Happy.

  2. Hi,

Tian Soon – Welcome to SHC.

Tian Soo – I can imagine your surprise. Your prompt action saves us from asking the wrong LTS for tapioca leaves…

  3. Cina Apek:
I am no forex trader but may be I can help explain it.
If you look at the back face of the US Dollar, there are these FOUR-LETTERED WORDS: IN GOD WE TRUST, whereas the others…..alamak…..GOD is not behind it; it’s the Reserve Bank!!! Of course, worth less lah!!
    Ivan
p/s: my other names are Shit-Paper, Ice-man, Edareka, Tiger, Lau Pa, Lam Mot Hein, Lim Bhai …….

  4. hahaha…. I thought it was a JOKE! Lim Tian Soon responding to his own profile?

Took me awhile to figure it out kekeke…..

    LTS, welcome to SHC.

  5. Hi Lim Tian Soo,

“In short call me CINA Lim”

Sound like a girl name -“Gina”
Change name but dont change sex
    hor! hehehe.
To select a good name, pls refer to
Ivan’s comment in TGIF and the importance
of having a appropriate name. :)

  6. Hi Tian Soon!

Welcome aboard! For once,I’m also confused. Was thinking why Tian Soo suddenly wrote his profile now.

It’ll still be confusing among us.Let’s call U Tian Soon no.2. and Tian Soo no.1. Ha..ha.
Just joking only la. No heart feelings.

Hope to see U at our mthly meet @ Kovan CC on 15 Oct(which is a casual one with some dancing competition on).
Some new comers thought it was official meet with agenda & mins to be taken!

    Cheers!

  7. Hello to all SHC members.
I am looking forward to this gathering at Kovan.
    I am staying in Hougang.

I would prefer to be called TS Lim.
I had been called by this initial since I started working.
Even my companies’ colleagues, both local and overseas called me by this initial.

As for speculating in spot forex one MUST show great passion
    about the world economies.
Like the interest rate changes, unemployment in major countries and such issues. All these issues affecting everyone can be heard, read, in TV, radio and newspapers.
    I am “trading” every day for 4-5 hrs, 2 hrs(afternoon);
    3hrs (night).
I use a strategy which is very unique and has been very successful, giving a probabilty of between 90 -95% winning trade.

    Regds to all,
    TS Lim

  8. Hi TS Lim

Welcome, welcome to the Club! Actually I’m quite a newbie myself and your post caught me wondering just like Catherine did.

So, TS are you Tian Soon or Tiang Soon? The latter right?

Great that we’ve another member in the Club to consult on investments. Can you please advise how we’ll be affected if the Sing dlr is depreciated and some ways I can protect the value of the little I have? Thanks!

  9. Hi TS and CINA

Welcome to the club, and CINA: You don’t look so “cheena” to me, maybe it’s the “Indra” in your name. Haha!

Must pick your brains about Forex Trading and learn how to multiply our precious dollars. If you’re coming to the October monthly meeting next week, I look forward to meet you.

I was only joking at #3….On a more serious note: To add to what TS Lim had said about FOREX; the “value” of currencies or Exchange Rates are actually quite complex.
There is the Tangible Value and the Perceived Value. A textbook reply on Tangible Values would be:
Supply and Demand (M1, M2 etc) of the said currencies due to International Trade
Monetary and Fiscal policies of Base Country currency
    Balance of Payments etc
A textbook reply on Perceived Values would be:
    Speculations
    Hedging/EXR Risky Managing
Confidence in the base currency etc
Don’t think anyone can answer your broad question here “completely” by simply posting/writing it on a forum.

Are you the guy I meet at the ScoreBot (Bali Lane) recently when SHC helded a talk there?

  11. Hi TS
Welcome aboard. These are exciting times & I’m glad to hear that you are doing well in your trading.

Look forward to chatting with you on the 15th. :)

  12. Hello, fellow SHC memebers.

My full name is Lim Tiang Soon.

I was trained in US equity market in 2000, by a the Americans
trainers who conducted the course in Singapopre.
I traded US stocks during the evening when the market opened.
I was very successful and then the US SEC changed the rule that retail investors were not allowed to close the position on the same day when a position was opened.
    That was in 2002.
So I switched to trading the indices, DOW, S/P and QQQQ.
Trading the Indices needed a small start up capital, few K USD as compare to stocks which requires over 10K USD.

I learned a few stregies from 2 well known traders from US. Their stratgies have probabilies varying between 70 and 80%.
What I did was to fine tuned and change the timing parameters and develop my own strategy.

It has since been very succeessful. I have taught my strategy to over 30 persons.

By the way, I had hosted a website to sell my strategy as an ebook from 2003 to 2007.

    Best Rgds,
    T S Lim

  13. Hi Tiang Soon,

I have amended the title on your Post and profile, to reflect your name correctly. Welcome to the SilverHairsClub.

  14. Hi Tiang Soon,

Glad to hear you are successful trading in Forex. Hope you can conduct a paid-course for those who are keen to learn from your strategies? Also how do I find the link to your website and to buy your ebook?
It is my intended dream to be able to retire and hopefully trade forex to earn enough to live a simple life, whilst travelling around too. In fact I tried for a short period of a year but was not successful in the long run, probably due to overconfidence not being too disciplined, careful, and not having timely news, group support, etc.

Hopefully with more education, learning and guidance from you and your experience, it can the start this time around of a successful career, one that suits my travelling plan across Europe, etc. It is still a dream but hopefully it can be done, as I dont intend to get rich, but just to earn enough to enable to be be to travel and see more of the world, meeting people and indulging in interesting adventures, etc. Cheers

  15. Hi, all SHC members.
To Ronald Wie, glad that U would like to earn some side income during retirement.
Betting on spot forex required discipline and not be too greedy.
I have stopped hosting my website at end of 2007.

My ebook was for trading the emini-DOW and S&P 500.
In fact the strategy can be used for trading any volatile instruments.

I do not encourage novices to hold open position overnight.
It is VERY risky. My strategy requires one to take profit
as soon as the price changes. That’s why I say not to be greedy.

See U on Wed. 15, OCT. at KOVAN.

    Cheerio,

    T S Lim

  16. Hi TS Lim,
Just thinking out loud about your forex trading as a Biz for SHCian and hope to do my sums a bit more in details. Could you please advise:
    1. What is the Cost of the “Trading Software” that you are using? Any annual subscription fees?
    2. How much will you be charging for your full training package/course both classroom and real-time sessions?
    3. What is the approximate set-up cost in terms of equipment, adminstrative expenses such as opening of forex trading account, subscription fees to hosting website for the trading etc?
    4. You mentioned that you need a few K USD but what exactly is this few K USD? 3K, 5K, 7K or 9.9K?
    5. Per forex trading session, what sort of minimum basic fees will be incurred regardless of Volume/Value of forex trades…
    6. Based on a certain few K USD (to be stated/specified by you), what sort of amounts/takings on an average can you/we make per trading session …. assuming we are 101% disciplined, completely not greedy, trade like a mechanical robot buy sell and close position, all at pre-set timing and/or limits both in terms of losses and profits, absolutely with no feelings/emotions and follow your strategy/strategies to the dot….S$50, S$80, S$120 or S$300 or S$500 per session?
    7. The purpose of 4, 5 & 6 above are to work out possible breakeven points and to “economise/minimise” capital vs fixed costs vs possible average returns.
    8. The purpose of 1, 2 and 3 above are to estimate the initial capital layout that a serious SHC will need and the writing down of set-up/equipment costs over what certain periods.
    9. Have you thought about pooling of captials??? Only for discussion purposes; I am aware of the legality of such activities and also the potential human problems that this may cause.
Looking forward to your reply or we can discuss this more tomorrow at KOVAN ….. I will be at the Books X’Change Desk.

  17. Hi Lim Tian Soon,

Ivan Lim has posted a series of questions that those who are really keen in forex will be eager to know the answers. I guess you are too busy to reply or may have replied to him directly.
Your suggestion to meet on Nov 18 will not be appropriate to discuss forex to any serious intent due to the limited time and distractions, etc. Sophia Lim and myself are keen to learn more from my first discussion with you since I last met you at Kovan.

Will it be possible for you to plan a different meeting venue and date before the 18th Nov> This is for those who are really keen to learn from what you have planned to conduct, to have a better idea?

My email and contact in case you have misplace them are: bswi@yahoo.com.

  18. Hi all SHC memebrs.

I had posted a few FX issues under “Housing Bubble coming to AUS”.
FX trading is not complicating as some of U would like it to be!!!
I am trading every day, 2-3 hrs in the afternoon & 2-3 hrs evening. As a retiree this is my job to earn some money.
Daily profit between 60 to 100 points, or pips. When I feel tired I trade less rather than losing.
I developed the unique strategy after combining all the best methods used by the few prof-traders whom I studied with.

All prof-traders are swing traders. That is, they open positions and leave them for several days. Their probability is between 70 -80 % of winning. They will always place a stop loss, between 30 to 100 pips.

As a small trader I take profit as soon as it meets my target.
Thus I profit consistently in every trade.
At the end of the day I have peace of mind and not worrying where the market is going.
Spot FX trading is fun, and NOT COMPLICATED.

    Cheerio,
    T S lim
