Do you know of a place to hold small talks?

We have always been looking for small places to hold talks.  But very often, the venue does not give us the flexibility or the tools to hold small talks.  Please look around; and if you have some suggestions for a avenue which fits our needs, please raise your hand.

  • Installed equipment included overhead projectors, screens, TV, with notebook connections, internet access (preferably wireless), microphones.
  • Seating capacity of 20 – 40 pax.
  • Very flexible with numbers.  This could be an existing cafe or lounge.
  • Ideally, no charge for the use of the venue.  The venue should have its own F&B.
  • Located close to MRT and public transport.

  1. Hi Terence,

From my last interaction with Kovan Tangerine cafe, the
mgnt wouldn’t mind we use their LCD projector with screen
which they normally use to show soccer matches FOC.
    The only disadvantages are:

    1) It’s outdoor (no aircon & no control on who can attend
    yr ‘small talk’)
    2) The projector is situated 10ft overheard and we have to
use a long cable to connect to yr laptop.
    3) Position of LCD projector and screen can’t be changed.

On a side note, if our SHC club can be integrated as part of
a CC clubs, the probm of getting rooms and using some of the
CC facilities would be greatly reduced.

Maybe we can explore this possibility with one of our member
who is also part of the Kovan CCMC, Michael Tan.

  2. Hi James,

Kovan Tangerine is a great place too. i shall put this as one of the venues for small talks. Let’s keep thinking and working on it. The event you did at Kovan Tangerine serves as a good reference.

As for integrating SHC as part of a cc, this topic has been raised from time to time. I tend to favour reviewing this idea in 5 years time. We are small, new and still trying to find what suit SilverHairs best. I hope we can hold on to our basic objective simple; and that is to provide a platform for SilverHairs, over 45, to meet new and more friends. Subsequent activities initiated by SilverHairs are totally left at the discretion and initiative of members. We keep out of politics, race, sex, religion, direct selling and MLM.

  3. Hello Terence,

    Just brain storming only.
Some private condos have Function Rooms for the residents’ use @ nominal fee.

Keep asking and hopefully we can find some new places. What are your requirements? Tables and chairs of course, what else?

    Geok Suan.

  4. Hi Abel,

I would be pleased to use this place. As this place is at your working place, can you confirm if it meets the needs as specified in this post.

  5. I have a relative who lives in a condo – The Jade, it is next to west mall and Bukit Batok Mrt. She could let us use her fuction room at no cost. just give her a month notice to book it. (it has air-con, tables and chairs, can take 30 to 40 people) and there is a swimming pool too. just inform me if u need it,Terence.
