Genet Leong – Profile

Hi Everybody,
I am Genet (simply pronounced similarly as “Janet”). I have been called “Gar-net”, “Ger-net”, “Ge-net”, “Jeanette”…the list goes on.

Just joined SHC on 20th March and am looking forward to making friends with everybody and also to enjoy myself with the numerous activities here.  I am still reading up the many posts from all of you and figuring my way around this site.

In these short few days I have noticed that SHC members are a very friendly & helpful lot.  I am indeed impressed when a call for help for street directions yielded so much response.

Now to introduce myself and hope that you will bear with me (for being so lor-soh) :

Personal
Marital Status : Married
Age : ermmm…dun say can? Shy shy lah but definitely above 45 emoticon

My looks can be described as “1661” ie 16 when you c mi from behind, and 61 when u c mi from the front (hee hee) but seriously, please dun faint (from shock) when you c mi horr

My Home Sweet Home is in Clementi

Working in a German MNC in Kallang

Dialects spoken : Father tongue is Cantonese, Mother tongue is Teochew & Hubby tonue is Hokkien so in short I am a rojak.

Interests
My 1st love : Shopping
My 2nd love : Travel

Fitness :
I take up aerobics (hi-lo) classes, swim and try to jog as much as I can but I suffer from knee pains and doctor say its due to the cartilage wearing out. Haiz! Signs of old age. Maybe I will have to switch to Brisk Walking instead.

On the music scene :
I enjoy listening to music – rock, pop but no rap please and I always forget the lyrics emoticon

I envy those who can dance well as I simply can’t dance due to my two left feet and I have no sense of rhythm.

BTW,  I have very bad memory in trying to associate names to faces and it takes me quite awhile to remember which name is to which face.  Perhaps a sign of dementia setting in.

Also if you happen to see me somewhere and I don’t acknowledge you,  pls do forgive me as I am both long & short sighted….Haiz! Another sign of old age emoticon

P.S. I hope I have posted my profile correctly in the appropriate category…if not velly solly…I still BluRR BluRR navigating my way around.

  1. Hi Genet,

A warm welcome to the Club. I am sure by now you have met many new friend. You are indeed very fortunate to be invited by the EO to sit in our committee meeting tonight!

We are glad that you are coming forward to help us in the gift wrappings for the D&D. So it work for you before you get a chance to join in any of our activities.

Let’s this be an introduction for you to many days of fun and adventure right here in the Silverhairs Club!

    Dan

  2. Hi Genet,

    Welcome to Noah’s Ark.
….but I suffer from knee pains and doctor say its due to the cartilage wearing out. Haiz! Signs of old age. Maybe I will have to switch to Brisk Walking instead.

NOT maybe,it will become worse if you continue to jog. It can be a very PAINFUL experience.I had met regular joggers at Clementi Connctor Park and they told me the same.

So if I were you,I will stick to brisk walking instead. Swimming would be good for your body exercise and will not exert too much pressure on your knee cap.

Hope to meet you one fine day.

  3. Hello Genet,

Your name give me the wrong notion that you are a nenek. Ooohs sorry lah !

Sound can be deceiving. Welcome to SHC. A club for everyone regardless and with no protocol.
Wow! just joined and oldlady(already) so active and popular. wah pian! Keep it up.

Aiyoh! forgot to ask Lina to invite Genet you for our nite out at Bellini Grande. Quite many of us went and we enjoyed ourselves. Lina, Gingko(the dessert nut),CJ and his commander(oohs!forgot her name lah), Noor, Steven, Richard,Charles,Ronald,Thomas, and birthday boy John Howe (like ang mio name leh) and myself Lee patrick (Don Juan).
And another teochew beauty, Ah NEE. Sorry, if I left out some names. Dementia lah!

How siao I am. Always think AH NEE is a man before I met her. So after serious consultation with everybody and Miss AH NEE — from that moment of consent from her, she will have an English name HONEY from now onwards.

Remember please to address her as HONEY HONEY gives me MONEY ! No money no talk OK! Guys ‘humsup’ like me when I say AH NEE, my mind wanders to Pamela Anderson’s nee nee. So my dirty mind is cleansed to borrow TIM by the “Almousety.” so nothing goes moosey moosey.
Hello Tim, so the very ‘san sum’ already. Must be lady angel changed you lah!

Three cheers to H-O-N-E-Y for the lovely new English name.
    (aka AH Nee of old).

Genet, “you come, you see and you shall conquer”, all the chores (DnD) to be done, not conquer the macho guys hor, hahaha!
BIG WELCOME TO YOU on board SHC cruise to Utopia.

  4. Hi Genet,

What an unusual spelling for a simple name!
Thanks for dropping by to the D n D comm mtg last nite.
From the back, you do indeed look like sixteen.
However from the front, I don’t see any part of you that
looks like sixty-one, haha. Keep it up with more exercise-
good for helping you to look young.

Hope you will enjoy the upcoming D n D and partake in as
many activities as possible. They are all fun or healthy.

    james

  5. Hi Genet,

Welcome you to our SHC family and you speak Teochew too. You are not “rojak” lah, Hokkien & Teochew combine…you are Hock chew….heheheee. Just like me, my parent are pure Teochew, my father-in-law, a Hokkien, my mother-in-law, Cantonese (very fierce one, like princess Dowager), hence my son is also Hock chew…heheheee. Joking only lah, don’t think got this dialect exist. I am surprised Pat Lee can speak Teochew very well though he is a “soo kee nan”. And you may not know that last night, you met most of us are Teochew. Charles, Ronald, Gingko, Lina, Thomas (think he is Teochew cos he ever speak Teochew to me)and myself. Perhaps he could starts a thread on the culture of Teochew swatow nan.

yo, first time met Pat Lee and he think HONEY is good for me. Thanks for your compliment but it will be very stress for me because I have to be very sweet sweet to all our fellow SHCians, follow by sour sour from the wives of SHC guys. How? Honey or Ah Nee. For Genet, Garnet is also a nice name (a crystal deep red in colour).

Pat Lee, nice meeting you, you also look like 16 from the back and 61 from the front. But judging from last night’s performance, the way you boogie boogie and “siow siow” you look so much younger, 51 to be exact. :)

    Ah Nee

  6. Hi Everybody,

Thanks indeed for your warm welcome. I feel so at home alredi.

    Hi Dan #1,
Yes, I must thank Francis for inviting me to last nite’s meeting and I am really glad to meet everybody there. I enjoy working behind the scenes so wrapping gifts no problem one … treat it as exercise for my hands & fingers :-)

    Hi Tim #2,
Alamak! Jia lark…you gave me street directions to exit at “Havelock” from CTE….shud be “Merchant Road” lah.

As to being “his best creations”…in my humble opinion, I am certain there are more people out there who r much more deserving of this “title” than me….I still hv long long way to go before I reach the status of Mother Theresa. I am actually the “Devil in Disguise” (song by Elvis Presley). Hiak hiak hiak !

    Hi Steven #3,
This Noah’s Ark is really cool from what I experienced last nite. The way everybody contributed to the discussion is so professional…if I dun know better I would have thought you are all professional event organisers. I am impressed.

BTW, thanks for your advice. I have recently taken plant-based Glucosamine since I am veggie-tarian and time will tell whether it works for me. This was what the doctor told me to take but the type she recommended is marine-based which is the case for most Glucosamine :-(

    Hi Patrick #4,
No popular lah…I m just simple mi only…just that everybody is so nice and made me so welcomed :-)

Ermmm…Bellini Grande…dun 4get I hv 2 left feet horr…Francis can certify that as he saw my feet last nite…hee hee.

    Hi James #5,
Thanks for your compliments…flattered to know that I dun look like 61 :-) I hope you are not thinking I look more like 71…Whahaha!

BTW, Phew! (wipe cold sweat)…Luckily for my name you use the word “unusual” which I take as “unique”…somebody told me my name is abnormal…huh ???

Yep…I am sure I will definitely enjoy myself at the D&D…Boogie boogie wooggie with my two left feet…

    Hi Ah Nee #6,
Whahaha! I actually tot I m a Canto-Hokchew. Sometimes when I speak, all the different dialects came out as one sentence…worse than Singlish. I am sure we will have a wonderful time speaking and understanding the various dialects.

  7. Sorry, Genet, I made the mistake, it’s the turn at merchant rd (the earlier left turn is into clemenceau av)…..sigh, it only goes to show that I had been turning round and round by people taking turns to turn me off…………but best, they thought they were turning me on.

  8. Helo Genet

I look forward to know everybody. The D&D is a starter for mi :-)

  10. Hi Genet,

If I remember correctly is it you who ask me whether I’m going for the D & D? If yes, then we can go toghether. By the way where do you stay? I living in Yew Tee and perhaps we can meet somewhere for the function.
