Unable to view comments

Hi SHCians,

Just found that i am unable to click ‘Comments’ to view comments of members. Wonder members also have same problem or if not, how to solve this problem. Thanks for some advice.

Cheers!

  1. Hi Henry and fellow SHCians,

Over the weekend, our ssytem misbehaved itself. I am not sure why, altho we have noted the last input, which was the entire comments of one post was cut and pasted into the Post itself. This seemed to have prevented other comments from being entered.

We just reset the system. Hope it will behave better.

  2. Hi Admin / Henry/ others,

I too encounter the same problem like you. Each time I post my comments, I got this

“Nasty” message”. Bad Request. Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Apache /2.2.0 (Fedora) Server at silverhairsclub.com Port 80. I tried this on another post and I got the same message.

May be this message could help to enlighten the admin or technical staff where is the exact location of this problem ?

  3. Like our flat, it appears that our ‘clubhouse’ is in need of a upgrading. Maybe it’s time for us to ditch the wordpress blog in favour of another platform. WordPress blog is good for diary type of postings and with our current activities it becomes too cumbersome and difficult to navigate to the relevant messages especially for users who do not log-in frequently.

I have just done some research and it appears that phpBB could be friendlier and suit our current activities. Here are two demos which I created – http://www.tipsforfastweightloss.com/demo/1.htm and http://www.tipsforfastweightloss.com/demo/2.htm . These threads are not clickable as it is created in jpg format due to privacy purposes. It can be easily customized to suit SHC needs. These two phpBB are currently active.

There may be some cost to upgrade our clubhouse and it may not be fair to let Terrence bear the upgrading cost. I suggest that we have an upgrading donation event for members to contribute to the upgrading of our clubhouse.

    What do you think?

  4. Hi Steven Ng,

I click on to yr phpBB and find the interface a bit dull and the text too small for comfort.

I still prefer Terence’s WordPress blog where the comments can be seen very clearly and the text are much larger esp. for ” loh far” eyes like we silverhairs.

Just my opinion but you may choose to differ.

  5. Hi Steven Chan,

The phpBB can be customized to suit your “loh far” eyes. Just change the font and the size on the configuration – that the job of the webmaster. The interface can be make as fun as you like. The two demo which I show are for serious peoples who are into making money on stock and internet marketing therefore it look dull and the users there all have ‘super’ eyes so they do not require bigger fonts. If you like, email me and I will give some phpBB which have fun and sexy interface and it could be too fun for your liking.

  6. Hi Steven #4,

Thank you for your suggestion. I take note of it, and will consider it when we change our website design. Likely in two years’ time.

Meantime, I have decided to take the recommendation of our hosting company to increase our disk space to 10GB. Hopefully, this action will help files backup during the night, as we have again reach disk capacity.

  7. Just curious – do you need to request your hosting provider to increase the disk space? As far as I know, nowadays almost all reputable hosting provider provide unlimited disk space, site bandwidth, domains and not forgetting unlimited email accounts.

  8. Hi StevenN #9,

Our hosting and service provider will normally alert me if and when we are close to exceeding full capacity. I am aware there are hosting providers who may be providing more space and features than what we are getting now. However, I have decided that we will continue to use our current service provider. Thank you for your suggestion.
