  1. Hi Anna,

I have the same interests as you – appreciating nature. Wanting to see and really getting to see it are two different matters. You can have the camera – ready to capture “the” moment, but the moment may not come.

For these kind of trips, my experience is, you can only keep your fingers “crossed” and wish for the best of luck.

Share with you one incident I experienced – in one of the guided tours in Europe – the tour guide assigned was very jovial, he told us a secret … he said, hi group, in my last assignment, the group I was with, caused me many problems. So in order not to get angry with the group and get more complaints, I just wished it will rain during the whole trip.

Clarification: I have no intention to offend any person. The above is just for musing.

At Monkey Mia the dolphins come to the shore when the feeders starts to feed them. I think the local hotels or council sponsor the feeding, so they are done during the peak hotel season to attract more tourist. I think they feed them till way into December. Then the day temperature get to over 40C and tourist disappear, they stop feeding, the dolphins don’t come to the shore.

For Whale watching, you go on to a large tourist boat near Perth. About 1 hour out to sea they start searching. I want only once and I saw them. They come close enough to the boat to spray their breath on you. But I cannot remember which month I was there, sorry.

Whales are migratory animals and the world weather is changing so I don’t think the tour operators can be sure exactly when they will be there.

    Hope this help.

  3. Hi Anna

Nov is a good time as it’s warm and temperatures can be in high twenties. I went up with hubby and some friends, driving from Perth to Exmouth. We stayed 1 night at Monkey Mia Resort and included in their highlights was a chance to see the feeding of the dolphins at the beach. There are fixed times and so you just gather at the time on the beach.

We also joined a boat group at Exmouth. You need to check with the information centre and then contact the tour organiser for the time etc. I think we paid AUD 50 each. It was worth it!

    Regards
    Joan
