SilverHairsClub – LiveChat, anytime, anyday

Hi fellow SHCians,

From members feedback over the years, some members have expressed that they do not always need to start a new Post, as they may not have a topic for discussion.  There has always been this request to just have a chat.  Others just want to have a simple online chat.  With our recent system upgrade, this is now possible.

Well, we can have it from today.

From today, you can have livechat anytime of the day.  Please respect the views and comments of fellow participants.   To participate:

  1. Simply log onto SilverHairsClub.com.
  2. A LiveChat window will appear on the bottom right of the HomePage. Click that little square box to start.
  3. You may be required to log in,  as this is strictly for members.
  4. In the LiveChat box, there is a faint empty text box, at the bottom.
  5. Chat whatever you like.  This LiveChat is not moderated.
  6. Please make effort to respond to fellow members who respond to your question. Do not leave the question dangling.
  7. As this is our general chatroom, do address the person first eg Hi James, ……
  8. SHC rules of no discussions on politics, sex, race, religion, direct selling and MLM.
  9. Contact tel numbers are not permitted.  No personal details.
  10. Most members are usually logged on before 9am, during lunch time, around 5pm and after dinner time.  When you leave the Chatroom, please say “goodbye”; so the other parties are not waiting for your response.
  11. EOs and EOs can pre-invite fellow members to come into the livechat at a certain date and type.  But, there maybe other members chat too.

Have fun.  Give LiveChat a try.  Any feedback appreciated.

  1. Terence, this morning I received an article in my email and I guess I should share this with all SHCians. Happy reading, SS
    Sixty and Going Strong.
(Translated from the original in Chinese below)
“There are 1000-year old trees in the mountain, but not many 100 year-old people”
At the most, you live until 100 years old (only 1 in 100,000).
If you live until 90, you only have 30 years.
If you live until 80, you only have 20 years.
Because you don’t have many years to live, and you can’t bring along things when you go, you don’t have to be too thrifty.
Spend the money that should be spent, enjoy what should be enjoyed, donate what you are able to donate, but don’t leave all to your children or grandchildren, for you don’t want them to become “parasites”.
Don’t worry about what will happen after you are gone, because when you return to dust, you will feel nothing about praises or criticisms.
Don’t worry too much about your children for “children will have their own destiny and find their own way. Don’t be your children’s slave”
Don’t expect too much from your children. Caring children, though caring, would be too busy with their jobs and commitments to render any help.
Uncaring children may fight over your assets even when you are still alive, and wish for your early demise so they can inherit your properties.
Your children take for granted that they are rightful heirs to your wealth; but you have no claims to their money.
60-year olds like you, don’t trade in your health for wealth anymore; because your money may not be able to buy your health.
When to stop making money, and how much is enough (hundred thousands, million, ten million)? “Out of thousand hectares of good farm land, you can only consume three quarts (of rice) daily; out of a thousand of mansions, you only need eight square meters of space to rest at night”. So as long as you have enough food and enough money to spend, that is good enough.
So you should live happily. Every family has its own problems. Just do not compare with others for fame and social status and see whose children are doing better, etc. but challenge others for happiness, health and longevity.
Don’t worry about things that you can’t change because it doesn’t help and it may spoil your health.
    You have to create your own well-being and find your own happiness;
As long as you are in good mood, think about happy things, do happy things daily and have fun in doing, then you will pass your time happily every day.
One day passes, you will lose one day; One day passes with happiness, and then you gain one day.
In good spirit, sickness will cure; in good spirit, sickness will cure fast; in good spirit; sickness will never come.
With good mood, suitable amount of exercise, always in the sun, variety of foods, reasonable amount of vitamin and mineral intake, hopefully you will live another 20 or 30 years healthy life.

  2. Hi Terence
The livechat box is empty. Does this mean the chat has not started? Hope this is not a sua ku question! lol!

    #1 Hi SS
The “60 and going strong” philosophical essay you posted has good scope for an invigorating chat on livechat. :)

  3. I testing testing and knock knock who is there but no response also can’t see my own conversation except others which was made about 9 this morning. so apa macam?

    1. Hj Frisna,

I am not sure why it does not work for you. We will let it run for a while and if it is not working after 2 to 3 weeks, we may remove it. We might continue with it, for those who can use it. Let’s hear from others.

    1. Hi ConstanceW,

      Your feedback is valuable.

We have tried on IPADs, PCs, Samsung Note; and so far LiveChat works well.
Perhaps, it may not work on some operating systems. Not sure.

LiveChat is like a football field.
What we have is an audience, around the field. They log on, but do not say anything.
Then, sometimes, we dont see anybody because nobody is playing. So, it could be one, two, three, etc.

Let’s see how we can attract others to use the football field.

  4. Hi

    a) I have no problem viewing the Live Chat with laptop or desktop.
    b) I can also post comments at Live Chat.
    c) The only downside is – I can’t see the people who are online although the ‘dashboard’ says xx members and xx guests are online.

    Have fun chatting!

    Regards
    maywoo

  5. Hello, hello

There are 23 people online at the moment. 9 members and 14 guests but no one has responded to my call at Live Chat as I type this comment.

    Hi Terence,

Just curious to know who are classified under ‘Guests’?
    Are they public members?

    1. Guests in the LiveChat are other people in the world. As our website is open to the global community, the search engines usually bring non-members to read what is going on in our community.

Each day, about 20- 50 people from around the world try to join as a member. But, because they are not willing to reveal their real names, their application is rejected. Robots and search engines are also active every minute.

  6. Hi, This is just for info and I hope you will find it useful, cheers, SS

    Watercress:The Miracle Food
Watercress is called Sai Yeong Choy in Cantonese

UK Scientists say watercress is the new super food, able to prevent certain types of cancer. According to a study published this week in The British Journal of Nutrition, the consumption of a three ounce portion of watercress reduced the presence of a key tumor growth factor six to eight hours after eating the watercress in healthy patients who had previously been treated for breast cancer. The study was conducted by the Cancer Research Center at the School of Medicine , Southampton General Hospital in the United Kingdom and concluded watercress is as therapeutic as traditional drug treatments with tamoxifen & herceptin, commonly used chemotherapy drugs.
The study also said that through regular consumption, watercress “has the potential to confer valuable protection against cancer in general.” “Watercress has the ability to turn off HIF1, a signal sent out by cells calling for blood supply,” said noted aging scientist Dr. Nicholas Perricone.

When HIF1 becomes incorrectly regulated, otherwise harmless precancerous clusters of cells have the opportunity to grow to form invasive tumors. “Scientists have been looking for anti-angiogenesis agents for years because ! if we can turn off the blood supply, we can kill the cancer,” said Perricone. “And it looks like watercress can do that.”

Another study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in February of 2007 showed that, in addition to reducing DNA damage, a daily dose of watercress increased the ability of cells to further resist DNA damage that may be caused by free radicals.
In the study, 60 men and women, half of whom were smokers, consumed their usual diet plus 85 grams of raw watercress daily for eight weeks. Blood samples were analyzed for plasma antioxidant status and DNA damage in lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. Watercress consumption significantly reduced lymphocyte DNA damage. In the time of the Romans, Greeks and Persians watercress was used as a natural medicine, prescribed for migraines, anemia, eczema, kidney and liver disorder and tuberculosis.

  7. I managed to see my own post using PC but as May Woo said no one responded to mine chat either although there’s certain numbers of MEMBERS online…

  8. Hehehe… Live Chat is like online message board: You can’t see or may not even know the persons online!

I tried it with Charles and Sue two days ago… It was boring… No, I don’t mean C or S… but you must have a subject of common interest…

I think the next chat should have a topic or event like Ah Sam’s Johore venture.

  9. Hi Kenneth #15 and those who tried LiveChat,

I have been following up this LoveChat, and have got to say it’s is boring if one is alone in the chatroom. In fact, I have been thinking of removing it. But I shall wait a while more.

The LiveChat works well if a leader or someone wants to discuss a topic. He/she fixes a date and time, and it can be fun.

  10. If I want to chat bo hia bo chia and eng eng bo tai zi, then, I think I will prefer to chat with someone I dont know – At least, I can say what I like cos I dont need to meet them if I dont want to right? But livechat here is different, cant really say anything openly as you dont know when the other party will be offended, right?

So in conclusion, I dont think I will want to chat here lor… I think chatting in facebook is more interesting lor..

This is my personal read only.. ok…

    Cheers.. Dolly

  11. Feedback on Live Chats – after logging n the green button on the left top is on, I was not successful in posting my msg between 8 to 9 am. I understand there will be disruption of network reception inside the train but once I was out of the train station I keep pressing “done” on extreme bottom right the msg still did not get thru. Perhaps one of the reason why we cannot find any one on line is the message posted are not reflected on the Live Chat?? Bdw, there was 2 members who is on during that time – assume one is Admin and the other is me ?

  12. pei sei – just tested on Live Chat, need to select “Go” instead of “done” to post message……..I shall be on available if anyone wishes to try to go onto Live Chat…
    ……

  13. Hi Folks,

From your feedback, the LiveChat is useless, has been disabled and replaced with another LiveChat.

Go to “Pages” on the left column.
    Look for “SHC LiveChat”.

Again your feedback would be great.

If you are free, come in at lunch time. Let’s havelunch together 1130 hr to 1300 hrs.
