SHC Calendar of Events – Events manager

A couple of times, Christina Chan had requested for an easier way to have a Calendar of Events, which can be easily seen by all members.  However, I have conveniently forgotten about the request each time.  Sorry about this.  With the current system, when events are posted, they are usually lost after a number of postings by members.

Well, we have just purchased a Web Calendar, latest Version 2.2c.  This is an online calendar which members can view, at the click of a button.

However, some work is needed.  We have to learn how to use it.  But, it’s easy.  So, I am looking for a SilverHairsClub member with a neck for playing with websites.  Someone who would download the file, learn how to set up events, and then upload the whole calendar to the internet.  You will be given a username and password.  Once you become an expert, you will continue to maintain the SHC Calendar of Events.

You will then have to teach all the Event Organisers how to use it and post their programs on this calendar.  If they cannot do it, and find such work too demanding, then you will have to do it, for all of them.

Would you like to do it?  Term of office: 2 years.  It’s fun, because you wont be paid.  Let me know if you are keen. I shall then give you the basic URL to start reading.

  1. This piece of news is pretty good n interesting. Was longing for this to happen one fine day although I didnt voice my view.

I will take on that role. 2 years seems pretty long but anyway I believe its a good start. If someone has already tendered earlier, pls put me in your reserve list.

Hopefully, I will be able to write out a guide to how to navigate and do it thereafter.

  2. Hi Yew Kwong,

Thanks for the offer. Everybody will be happy once the Calendar of Events is up. Our current website does not have this feature, so it is difficult to have a calendar, we are used to for years.

I shall email you the program downloading instructions, and the registration code. Guess, you have to learn how to use it. I shall then send you the Ftp username and password.

You shall have the first go, and oops for two years. The other Event Organisers will be happy.

  3. Dollypop queen, you want to sacrifice meh? Terence is looking for a SilverHairsClub member with a neck for playing with websites. It’s so wasteful if you let no one else but the website to play with yr neck.

Well, think Yew Kwong is the best neck at this point in time as he certainly has that specialism knack, unless a giraffe comes a charging at his butt.

  4. See Ah Tim, Yew Kwong see me so up up la…
    hehehehe

Thanks.. Yew Kwong, it is reli OK that you work on this first cos I know that you are definitely an beta choice given your knowledge on IT but if you need assistance, I would most greatly to help out lor..

  5. Actually, Yew Kwong & Dollypop should work together……………..while YK works on the website, Dollypop can rest on her b-side & feed him with lollipops; bet you, the website will never flop & we wont need to call in the cops to hv the scums stopped, and with SHC on top, Terence will never madly hop so thank you very much Dollypop.

  6. LH Jie Says: …doesn’t deliver….is the neck on the chopping block.

Punishment is no longer this fashion. We have in place an updated one which is “severing thighs (ties)”. lol

  7. aiyo.. dun care ‘chopping neck’ or ‘sever thighs’ la… cos I m sure that Yew Kwong sure can deliver 1 la… no chance 2 tio punishment 1..

  8. Thanks Yew Kwong & Dolly for helping out. I would not dare to offer help because I am hopeless with IT. Even need Dolly to help me with a simple posting. So good to know there are people who care. Kudos to both of you!!!

  9. Dear Terence,

Thanks for working on a thought! Know for sure you will always make things happen for the better for all SHCs. Bless you!

Yew Kwong, thanks for the quick response to take up the role. Being IT savvy, surely you are one of the right person… 2 years without pay hmmmm yea! that is being “big hearted”.
ps: I am unable to offer help as simply could not find the time (ps: lately had not been able to attend several SHC activities like line-dancing, karaoke).

It would be good to have another IT savvy person to be involved …. any volunteers??

    Gracias!

  10. Hi Christina
