Golf kakis list

I have been a golf player since 1990.  My swings can be soso or bad, depending on whether I have a couple of beers with me.  Used to play at least twice a week.  But, really, can’t seem to find enough time nowadays.

In the last few years, I prefer to play during competitions, and usually, I land up being the last or second last.  But, not shy, I continue to enjoy the game.  It’s fun and relaxing.  Golf is not cheap; and it’s time-consuming for some.  But, the game is healthy, considering the walk and the body swings.  For many, golf is good exercise for the body, and good for friendship.  Maybe good for retirees too.

We have some good golfers in the SilverHairsClub.  And, of course, we have some, who likes to try a hand at it.  There are interests to play in Malaysia, and there are in interests to go to the driving range.

We can start a Golf Kakis list here.  Newbies and amateurs, feel free to put your name here.  And, if you have a spare or unwanted golf set, hiding somewhere in your home or office, you can offer it here too.   Someone may want it.  Even, the odd iron 5, or 5 wood or the single putter.

So, let’s proceed with the list first.  Calling all Golf Kakis….

Registration:

  • Good enough on the green – Daniel Kang, Terence Seah, Charles Wee, Pauline ?, Eleanor Chan, Ronald Wie, Ah Nee, Molly, Bessie Lam, Jeremy, Andrew, Gywneth Lee, Daniel Kang (left hand golfer)
  • Good enough to start on the driving range – Annto, Ann Lim, Susan Chang, Norlinda

  1. Hi all budding golfers,

Can i know all those who are already equipped and are ready to play on the course, so that we can plan a game in JB soon.

Charles is one, and Pauline too.

    Cheers,
    Allrounder

  2. Hi Terence

I have been to driving range at OCC some years back but have never seriously taken up the game. If there are enough kaki my standard, yes, I wud like to give it a go again.

Ah Nee & Nor, this is the chance…you hv been waiting for..

    Thks,
    Susan

  3. Hi all golfers,

Thanks to Terrence for initiating this posting on Golf Kakis. Norlinda and myself have been seriuosly thinking of upgrading ourselves to the Green. We have taken a course on Golfing before and subsequently practise a number of times at the East Coast Singa Inn driving range. How can we miss this great opportunity of having the professional Golfer around in the driving range, please include us in the Golf Kakis List. Hoping to learn more from you folks….

    Ah Nee.

  4. hi golf kakis!
Yes!..im registring here, as ah nee & susan says..this our great chance to learn from our very own SHC golfers..wow!
    Molly, Susan,Ah Nee,Gwyneth & AnneTo…we passed
Phoresia Golf course yesterday & I was ‘dreaming’… when can we go to the greens!..hahaha:)
btw gang…tks for the fun over the weekend!…not enough ah!
Terence…Im sure Bessie Lam is good enough for the greens..she’s a good golfer!..my ‘secret’..i know about her..hehehe!
    rite Bessie?

  5. Hi Ronald,
I dont mind joining you guys on the green. Wud prefer to play on a friday.
You can ask Bessie too. She has been playing for a long time but probably laid off for a while due to work. Right Bessie.

  6. hey tks to terence for initiating one of my fav hobbies! use to play some 5 yrs back but stop since I sold off my car. wud luv to play but usually have only fridays. but will certainly try to fit into other schedules too.

    great!
    jeremy

  7. Hi all,

Ok let us plan for this Friday 10th, as Jeremy and Molly can make it so will need another ball, for a start only those with handicap. Charles if you ready can join us.

For the rest without handicap, can arrage a driving range, and some chip and putt on a day when there is a group. Molly, me, and anyone else, can try to be around to help out. This is necessary so that you have the basics before going to the green else , all will be turning black waiting under the hot sun searching for lost balls, etc.

    Cheers,
    Allrounder

  8. Hi Terence

    Correction…….

I’m not good at all for the range or the green. Golf’s not my cup of tea, took up the game few years back but just dont have the flair for it, so please exclude me.

However, Bessie Lam’s a season player on the green, she’s well equipped, dont miss her

    Ann Lim

  9. Hi golf kakis,

Would like very much to join you guys and gals for a round of golf this Friday. Unfortunately, I’ll be fishing in Sibu Island Kelong.

    Norlinda,

My daughter is left handed and has a golf set. If you are left handed I can temporary loan the set to you cos she has to hang up her golf set for 3 years. She is busy with study while still working. Or I can loan you a couple of my extra irons and woods(right handed).

    Molly,

Thanks, Can arrange another game on Fridays or any weekdays. I miss Desaru if can arrange a game there. Any where will be alright for me.

    Thanks, Bessie

  10. Hi Terence,
Susan, Ah Nee, Norlinda, Daniel Kang, Eleanor and Pauline are all beginners. Please put them on the list for driving range. They can only go to the green if they have a PC.

  11. Hi all the L plate buddies,

We prefer a Sat or Sun right? Most of us are working on weekdays. Can we arrange one after the cycling at Ubin. Thanks!

    Ah Nee.

  12. ya lah…our motto..work weekdays,play weekends..then have balance lifestyle rite?..hahaha, for ppl like us lah…
for retirees…wah!..now shiok lah…relax & play everyday also boleh hor..hhhmmm:)

  13. alamak Terence!..didnt see u upgrade me,ah nee & susan to the greens??…dont make us malu lah…dont even know what is PC…what ah Molly?..anything to do with susan’s PSP?..hahaha!

  14. Hi Norlinda,

Just to check if you want me to reserve the golf set(left handed) for you.

    Pls read comment #15.

One of our SHCians wud like to take over the set as I think she is also left handed.

    Thkq, Bessie

  15. Hi Terence

I think you hv mistaken lah…I can’t go on the green yet, like what Molly said, no PC mah.

Hi Nor, PC = Proficiency Certificate and PSP = Portable Sony Playstation. The good thing about it is I don’t need a PC to play on my PSP and still can go on the green…hee…hee.

  16. Hi Daniel,
My husband has a set of left-handed STEEL shaft iron to be given away. The set is currently in hk. If you want, I’ll see how soon I can get it delivered back to Sg. Probably takes about 2 mths. ai mai?

  17. Ivy,

It’s nice of you to think of us, even though you have now moved to Hong Kong.

For member’s info, Ivy Low has helped to organise the collection of old specs for recycling.

  18. Hi Suchang, Nor, Molly & Nee

Sure we had a great time. Tks Nor for your hard work. Fun to get lost hor!!
Golf!! please put me in the list, have not tee for a long time. Must find my glove again. Terence we spoke on this before.
    Tks.

  19. It’s so heartwarming to see the generosity of members. Off the top of my head, I remember Caroline inviting us for a dinner party, Yew Kwong giving away his CDs and books and now Ivy giving away her husband’s clubs.

  20. Friends, please don’t make me “pai say”. Nothing great cos this is a very old set. I know my husband is trying to find an excuse to buy a new set. The pigoen hole in hk is too small to accommodate more than three sets; one of which is mine :))

Daniel, I hope to find someone who can bring it back to sg soon; otherwise, you’d hv to wait till Oct. Meanwhile, hv fun with your golf kakis.

  21. Ivy,

    We are proud of you.

If yours is pigeon hole, ours is a golden hummingbird.

Do some “Reflections” on your own. For S$ 4 mil you get a tiny studio like apartment with a bar counter for a kitchen and glass closet for toilet. They put the washing machine in the living room and call it lifestyle.

After a bit more reflections, you may be glad to National Day out-country. As many of us do.

  22. Hi KT,
Hv you seen or eaten roasted pigeons in hk? The size of the pigeons in HK is definitely smaller than Sg. Birds in Sg are more well fed, I think. Oops! forgot this thread is for golf not birds or apartments…hahaha. Better stop b4 Terence start coming after us :p

  23. Dear Bessie
thanks for yr thoughts of lending me yr daughter’s left-handed set( i hv answered in our private email)..im a right-handed..so u may loan it to someone else now.
    Tks much again, c u on ‘Ubin-Day’!

  24. Hi all golfers and would be golfers,

How about a game this Friday the 17th Aug at JB , early morning game and be back early afternoon after a good lunch ?

Just a consideration for left handed would be golfers, you dont have to swing using left handed clubs.

In fact better golfers are made when they swing using the other side i.e left handed person can use right handed club to start their swing.

I have friends who are left handed but swing with right hand clubs. To start off you dont need to use left handed clubs as everything is new to you and switch to left hand at a later stage.

    Cheers,
    Allrounder

  25. Hi Ronald,

Friday is fine with me. Just let me know who are the golfers, timing and which course. What about transport arrangements????
    Tks Molly

  26. Hi all,

Molly and me are gamed to play this Friday 17th Aug early morning at JB. Two of us will drive, so awaiting for Betsy and hubby to confirm and others who want to join us.

Only those who can play on the course whatever your handicap is , it is just for funs, any bets will for lunch lah. Good if we can have 2 flights ,one for ladies and mens.

    Cheers

  27. Ronald/Molly,

So sorry, can’t join you all for this friday.

Just came back from 7 days golf in Bangkok. So tired and got to get back to work.

I am also busy with my work and cant join you.

    Enjoy your game.

    Thanks Bessie.

  30. Dear all,
Not sure if it is late to join this Golf Kaki List. I have a PC from OCC and interested to play in the green for my handicps.

I am looking forward to join all of you in the next golf sessons. Hope to hear from you soon … Cheers!

  31. Dear Daniel Kang,
I have been hunting you down since last week. I hope to pass the left-handed set to you around mid Oct. Are you still interested? You seemed to be MIA for a long time. Appreciate if you could contact me at LKYIVY@hotmail.com. Thanks.
