  1. Hi All
Someone suggested BBQ. Anyone else in favour? And any advise how we can do this? Everyone bring their own raw food to BBQ.? EOs to supply the fire? Look forward to your ideas, suggestions and advise.

  2. Hi Silas

Oh yes please. We would definitely love to be entertained :) provided there are participants for this event. If not, it will be cancelled due to poor response. :(

Thanks for your willingness to contribute. Let’s wait to see if this event will takes off. If not, we will keep you in mind for future activities.

    Best Regards
    Lily

  3. Lily

I will bring my bicycle for it’s annual exercise. My bicycle’s tyres are now flat, just like the owner. If others would bring their sexy bikes, it may perk mine up. I will ride for 30 minutes and eat for 3 hours.

  4. Lily,

i will bring my bicycle too … have not decided what to bring for food. It was always so fun in these gatherings…eat, talk, play and exercise and now card magic! Calling everyone to have another round of wonderful time….

    Janie

  5. Lily/Doug
Will have to miss this cycling :( Attending a concert cos boss’s wife will be performing so must attend lah. If BBQ or pot luck ends late, then will cheong there from the Esplanade.

    cheers
    Carly

  6. Haha Tian Soo
Your comment always tickle a funny bone. By all means bring your deflated tyred bike, our SHC sexy bikers will inflat your spirit for sure. You can oogle at Yew Kwong or Douglas or Julian in their tight lycra biker’s suit…… Lol. ~,^

    Hi Janie
Long time no see – no class no see. So sad :(
Not sure what to bring just bring the same thing lor. I remember the cut cucumber and fish balls that you brought 2 years ago were refreshing and popular with participants. Another refreshing snack was Anne Lim’s cherry tomatoes stuffed with tangerine peels. Yummy ^.^

    Hi Susan CH Tan
Not sure if we’ve met but judging from your active participation of several groups, EO or helping out this and that, you must be a fun loving and very capable lady. If Tian Soo can cycle, so can you. ~.*

    No worries Carly.
Go enjoy the performance. When you are done, and if you still feel up to it, give us a call to check if we are still around or adjourned somewhere else. You can then decide to join or not. ~.~

    Silas
Looks like you are in business. Start practising but not to worry if you fumble. We can use a good laugh. Heehee… >,< EO partner, Douglas Make sure you come back on time hor. No excuse of flight delay, etc. etc.

  7. Ha Lily,
Have not been participant in shc activities for a long while. Looking forward to return.
Yes, we not only will travel fr East to West to support but will bring few kakis alobg for you too. Please register myself, Arthur Yap, Margaret Tian & Steven Tian. If the BBQ is on, I will make a salad too.
    See you soon.
    Peggy Yap

  8. Yes Eileen Thean
Cycle over or swim over also can. Haha. Hope the other cyclist Eileen Ang will come too.

Welcome Peggy, Arthur, Margaret & Steven….TIAN.?!!
We have members named Steven Ng and Steven Chan. Is Steven Tian a new member? Margaret, is he your brother? If he is, please ask him to register as member first. Otherwise, I’m gonna kena scolding from the chief. Hehe….

We have not decided it to be a BBQ. It is too much trouble, so we are going to stick to pot-luck. Hope you are fine with it. See you soon.

  9. Dear Lily,
The Steven is non other than Steven Chan, Marge Tian very very long distant relative, ha ha ha. Thousands apologise for the typo, that is the result of trying to catch too many fishes at one time ended up making mistake.
Ok, sibce BBQ is out, the Iron Chefs will brain storm and revert on what to bring to your Pot Luck Gourmet Meet

  10. Hi Peggy
Thanks for the clarification. Registration list updated.
Will list the pot-luck menu when registrants provide the dishes they are bringing.

Someone told me she will bring curry chicken. I’m waiting for her to sign up. Hehe…. :)

  11. I m coming also. Will let you know what to bring later, okok? Don’t know if my China-brought back foldie ok anot. If ai sai, will bring along to cycle.. if not, gossips n makaning lor…

  12. Okok Dolly
So happy you are taking time off to take a break and join in the fun.

    Hi Patrick Cheong
It’s ok to bring your potato salad. I can always change mine to something else.
Hmmm….. Don’t think we’ve met. Are you new?

  13. Hi Lily,

Thinking, thinking…… what I should bring – got idea suddenly – sambal goreng! Something a lil spicey. I follow recipe hor, cross my fingers.

In case some dont know what it is, it’s a popular Malay dish – french beans, potato, prawns, tau-kwa, tempeh, etc.blended with lots of spice. Will bring some white rice.

    Cheers!

  14. Wah! Got Curry Chicken, Baguettes, Sambal Goreng with french beans, potato, prawns, tau-kwa, tempeh, etc., Potato Salad and human ear and sexy Chinese foldie. I shell bring wine because we already have women.

Now my favourite 4 letter word is FOOD and yes Susan, I can RIDE, so can you.

  15. Dear Lily,
Aft seeing so many Master Chefs are bringing so many items Iron Chefs got shock become Stony Chefs :( Looks like all the key items hv bn “poh” liao, nw left the dessert & drinks. Ok we will bring green bean soup, fruits & drinks (lemon & barley) that will goes well wif spicy food. Hope this is acceptable.
Also I will bring along Lin Chuah to help to serve the food & drink since she can’t cycle & skate.
Looking forward to a rolling good time on 7 Dec.

  16. Finally Lina.
I always reminisce childhood days going to Tanah Merah beach with family. There will alway be a pot of curry chicken and ‘chiam tow lo ti’ (elbow loaf) for our hungry stomach after swimming.

    Hmmm…. SusanCH
The description made my mouth waters and I can smell the aroma already.

    Ok, Carly. Noted.

    Yes, Tian Soo.
Bring bottles of wine and bring straws too. Hahaha.
Wei Geraldine – U coming? Your favourite drink is waiting…..

Wah so many kinds of chefs. No problem Peggy.
Green bean soup, fruits and lemon barley are all time favourites.
Great that Lin Chuah is coming too. Yes, we shall have a roaring good time.

  17. Not sure if I would be cycling but will make my appearance for the event ……… food wise am still scratching my head but will come up with something edible on that day. Also a friend of mine is keen to join us and I believe her application for membership had been submitted. Will check with her later in the week

    Sockie

  18. Oh hi, Sockie my mj kaki.
I log in again having forgotten to mention Peri and Thomas coming too. Your comment triggered my memory because they had said the same thing : Will bring something edible….lol.

  19. Hi Lily/Douglas,
Please include us for this picnic. We have not decide on the food items yet but will combine to bring some and stuffed cherry tomatoes is one of them. Thanks.
Teresa Seow, SK Chua, Esther Mok, Ann Lim

  20. hi Lily, this will be my first outing with SHC Cycle group. Thanks for giving up your potatoe salad. I hope not to disappoint with mine :) and hope to have good weather for our potluck. see ya

  21. Hi, Lily,

You are right, even if I fumble on my card magic, it will provide some laugh to the audience as a therapeutic effect, but I hope those (no matter how few) watching will be forgiving enough to give me a retry chance ( with same or other items) so that at the end there will be at least some eye-opener spectacle) . Anyway, please do not write me off as yet until you see. See how a deck of card could turn into a computer. It is all about creativity which is needed in our daily tackling of cost of living, health, job , relationship problems, not to say the boredom issue, of course, while we still have our memory faculty and sanity. Once our memory /health is gone, it is game over on this earth console—-as simple as that, no need rocket science.

By the way, Lily, where is the meeting point before we fan out to cycling and other activities? Since you are the coordinator, how do we contact you if we lose sight of the gathering especially if we cannot find anyone we recognise?

Any table to showcase the card magic—-if have to do it on oily table with food, etc or on some cement floor, I would rather not do it.

Any plan B, in case of bad or what schools like to call ‘inclement’ weather?
    silas

  22. Yay, Ann Lim & gang Teresa Seow, SK Chua, Esther Mok are coming. So are the stuffed cherry tomatoes…..yum yum.

Thanks Geraldine. Too bad you not cumming. :(

No worries Patrick. I’m sure your potato salad will be good. I will bring fried bee hoon instead. After your first outing with the SHC bunch you will surely be going for more as you will have much fun and get to meet so many new friend at one go.

    Hi Silas
There is a huge sheltered place with plain cement flooring next to the Bistro and bicycle rental kiosk – you can’t miss it. Rain or shine, we will be sheltered. There are no tables or bench. I do hope some of you will bring floor mats otherwise there are plenty of standing room.

    Hi Sockie
I sieve through the registration mails but did not come across Alice Yap. We receive 50 to 100 new registrations daily and I have to sieve through them to identify genuine applications. The rest are spams and pranks.
Kindly ask her to submit her application one more time please. I will keep a look out for it. It is also important that she submits the hard copy of the registration form duly completed before her application can be accepted.

  23. Hi Lily,

Sorry I’m unable to join in the fun as I’ll be away. Ann Lim unknowingly registered for me. Perhaps the next time, yah. You guys have fun!!

    Regards
    Theresa Seow

  24. thanks Lily for your guide, I just need to know where to meet with the group as there are a number of barbecue pits. Is it at the Bistro@Changi Beach Park itself or some other specific spot? Not a frequent visitor to the Changi Beach Park. Thank you. Silas

  25. Aw Theresa Seow
Too bad you can’t join us. Sure, we will fun again another time. Cheers.

    Silas
Yes, the large sheltered pavilion is very nearby to Bistro@Changi Beach Park. May be about 30 metres away or less? We are not doing bbq so no need to go look for bbq pits. A few of us have to be there early to ‘chop’ the place. Unless you plan to be there super early, you can’t miss a bunch of rowdy middle-aged group.

Anyway, I had emailed you and Patrick Cheong (newbie) my mobile in case you got lost.

  26. Hi Alice Yap
Finally,….. you are now a member. Yes, have included you in the list. Btw, no phone number or email address on the forum please (with exception for Fleamart, EO and EC) by order of our chief. See you this soon. :)

  27. Hello Lily
I’d like to join the fun too but not sure yet whether can participate in cycling or just join the potluck (will bring whatever I can buy on that day ok?)
Hi Patrick, if I cycle will meet you somewhere on the way as am staying in Ps.Ris too

  28. Hi Frisna
Very happy you could join in the fun. Ok to buy food. No issue. Since he is new, Patrick will be delighted to have someone cycling alongside him to the venue.

Welcome also, to Bira and Judy for informing me that you would like to join in the fun too. No worries Judy – if you can’t make it at the last minute. But of course we hope that you would.

  29. Yes HC. You are registered.
Have been wanting to go to one of your sessions but….. alas…..sigh….. timing is always not right for me. Great to see you again. :)

  30. No worries Kristy.
I won’t be cycling too as I have to set up the place and stand-by to receive members.

    Yo Audrey
Glad you could make it. Sockie said to me: “Everyone seem to say don’t know what to bring. In the end, everyone ended up coming with a bunch banana”…..lol. Nevermind, we will all go bananas!!

  31. Hi, Frisna Tan

Will roll off from PaRis around 3.45pm and reach the Changi around 4ish. Anyone else riding from Tamp/Paris can also come along for the ride to CV :)

  32. Haha Annie

    Hi Charles Chua

    Judy

My trip to Batam was cancelled. Annie and I would like to join in the eating, chit-chatting and to catch-up with both old and new. At the moment not sure to bring rumbutans or home cook food. Can I let you know later?

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)

  35. Great idea Judy.!
    Yes, we need disposables.!

    Hi Johnny & Annie
Batam can wait. This gathering not alway have….. may be in another 2 years’ time? Food wise I leave it to the guests – just hope not everyone bring fruits otherwise, we are going to have a lau sai party……hehe.

  36. Hi Patrick

  37. Hi Frisna
So sorry to hear about left foot. Hope it gets better soon. Noted you are unable to attend. We shall miss a ‘live wire’. :(

  38. Johnny
    Wow wee. I’m drooling already.

Just back from grocery shopping. Got to start my cooking soon. But before I do that, have to sign in for John Howe and Boon Liang.

See you folks in a few hours’ time.!
    Cheers :)

  39. Hi EO Lily/Douglas,

A blessed day to us at the Changi beach yesterday as heavily pouring for the last three days before our gathering. I have enjoyed myself with the cycling with the fine weather and the yummy foods which provided by each of the
    members.

Would like to thanks Lily & Douglas their efforts and kind thought the arrangements to shared with us for the enjoyable Saturday outing.

    Judy

  40. This gathering give us an opportunity to spend quality time with friends and some we meet the first time. Go cycling lead by Douglas and missed the magic card tricks. Was told it’s interesting. However, cycling brings me good memories of last year when I often join the regulars in punggol.

Thank you Lily and Douglas for creating this opportunity.

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)

  41. Yes dear EOs,

You must be looked upon in great favour by the Great Almighty, we couldn’t have a more perfect day – no sun, no rain and the sea breeze was heaven-sent.

Finally I broke away from my fear and took control over my bicycle, thanks to Dorine who was following me patiently from behind while I paddled away trepidatingly, all eyes focused on the 10 meters ahead only, and kept pleadingly sending out warning alerts – ring ring, L-cyclist please” Lol. Lily, yup, yup, Changi Beach Resort is much better than ECP – not too crowded too.

Thanks v much for organizing, everybody enjoying the warm SHC kindred spirit, old friends mingled together, surrounding all the potpourri of food and wine. Meet again soon, of course.

    Cheers!

  42. Thank you Lily, Douglas, Dolly & everyone who played a part in making the gathering a great success.

Good weather, amazing magic card trick, lots of fun & laughter and of course, we were spoilt with the wide spread of delicious food – curry chicken, fried bee hoon, otak, soy sauces chicken, DANG GUI duck, curry puffs, pastries, desserts, snacks, wine…and more.

Thank you for creating this opportunity for us to catch up and mingle with both old and new friends.

    Cheers,
    Thomas Loh & Peri

  43. Thank you Judy.
Yes, we were indeed well blessed with good weather yesterday and as what Paul Kong said, with perpentual fan blowing to keep us cool.

Thanks to all who came to make this a fun gathering of old friends and meeting new ones. Thanks to all the wonderful cooks and all the ready cooked food and fresh fruits that some members brought. Thanks to Douglas, the cycling leader – co-EO for not missing his flight to be with us. Thanks to Steven Chan, Eileen Thean and Annie Tang who came early to help me set up, and to those who took long bus trips to be at the gathering. Also to everyone who helped cleaned up afterwards.

Sincerest appreciation from the bottom of my heart.
    Lily

  44. Luckily my bicycle chain fell-off so I can have the excuse to be the first to return for the food again.
Many thanks to Lily and Douglas for the nice evening. The food was good. Only now, I remember Susan’s Sambal Goreng, but don’t remember eating them???
It is also good to meet new men at the club. Patrick and Silas, hope to see you guys again.

  45. Hi Tian Soo,

I think your bicycle chain must have fallen off 2-3 times cos you came back for the “refills” that I spare you from taking in the sambal goreng and spoiling your new physique.

Next time I’ll try and do the wu tao kou and see whether anyone dares to take.

Are you joining me for Bintan – you’re not going to Terence’s Mersing getaway, right? He very naughty, chose the same month as mine one.

    Cheers!

  46. Hi Susan CH

No I am not joining you for Bintan because I have been to the island a few times before. I am not going to Mersing either. I think March is when Terence is going to India and I hope to join him.
I have never been to India and riding in a rickety bus sounds good to me. On top of that, we may get to be in a crowded street full with Indians when there is a blackout. I guess we have to wait for them to run riot, turn a few police cars over and have a bonfire before we can see. It will be an adventure.
