  1. Hello
After my first attendance at Pearl Wong’s Canto-pop karaoke cum Kopitiam event in Nov 2011, I told myself that I will have to organise one EO event within 18 months of my first attendance. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way that I had planned. I had to postpone my plans last year as I couldn’t find an available time slot at the target venue.

I’m lucky this time as I could secure our date at the resort. And also, I have capable co-EOs who willingly extended their hands to assist. If you like what we have in store for you, please sign up early.

I look forward to your participation.
    Warm Regards, maywoo

  2. May,
Pl register for my Boss Arthur Yap, if not I hv to start walking fr 12 am to reach Aloha by 3 pm hor.
Thanks & looking forward to “huat” wif everybody.

You guys enjoy and I am sure with the three Superwomen, its a certainty!

  19. Dear Registered Participants
Honestly, I’m overwhelmed by your tremendous support and lightning speed response to my post on this Chinese New Year Lo-hei Party. I didn’t expect the places to fill up in less than 2.5 days from the time of my post.

I must thank the people who have made this possible. Namely, my super-powered ‘wonder women’ who have worked tirelessly and silently behind the scene (not behind my back). They cajoled their friends, talked to them for hours with their persuasive charm etc to bring them to the party. They are
    1) My co-EO, Susan Tan
    2) My Treasurer, Peggy Yap whom I have met on 19 Dec 2013 for the first time. She armed herself so well to ‘sweet talk’ her friends to sign up.
    3) My Bingo I/C, Ann Lim and the rest in my team who have in one way or another help with increasing the registration.

Last but not least, Karen Thio for ‘chio-ing’ her contacts to sign up together with her. Karen has also extended her offer to assist us in any area that we may need help.

I’m very glad that I’m showered with so many blessings right from the start of the year. I really look forward to organising more events for you gals and guys out there! Just give me some time ya.

With Heartfelt Appreciation from your humble EO here,
    maywoo

  20. Hi May,
Just transferred $232 being payment for
Thomas Loh, Peri Liew, Tan Sim Seng & Daisy Yeo @ $25 each, and
Ann Lim, Evon Lim, Catherine Ho & Theresa Seow @ $33 each.
    Cheers

  21. On behalf of EO May and our wonderful dedicated team members, thank you one and all for your speedy response to register for this get-together. What a pleasant surprise. Truly heart-warming to see such great support and this will spur us to make this a very successful party. We are very fortunate to be successfully allocated the last chalet, or is it a bungalow, a 4-bedroom unit to boot and May had to pay $180+ upfront from her own pocket first.

We must not forget also the new members and we hope that they will not be too shy to join this great party. Please don’t hesitate to sign in and we most warmly welcome you and hope you will have fun.

Lastly, I hope that now that we have filled the quota, please be so kind as to pay soon so as to confirm your attendance and with your commitment, we can move forward to plan the next task ahead of schedule. Meantime we can still keep in view those who are still coming in to register as they may not be aware, naturally, since this was announced only a couple of days ago. So, to the old, not-so-old and fledgling members, just keep coming in and be put on the waiting list until we tell you when it’s reaching optimal point.

    Have a good weekend ahead.

  22. Dear Peggy & May,

Transaction ref no : 5898 amount of $75. 00 paid by Andrew Koh, June Koh and myself.

Thank you organising the gathering to share with us.

    Judy

  23. Attention All Participants

In view of a full registration achieved earlier than our target date, we have decided to bring the payment due date forward to 11 Jan 2014 instead of 22 Jan 2014.

We seek your kind understanding to secure your places by way of payment on or before 11 Jan 2014. Unsecured places will be automatically offered to those on waiting list.

Please note that there will be NO refund for withdrawal after payment is made. However, refund is subject to approval and on a case-to-case basis. We regret that in this instance, you are not to arrange for any replacement. Your place will be offered to the next person in the queue. We hope for your understanding.

We thank all participants who have made early payment. Please alert us to update this post if we have overlooked your payment status.

    Regards, maywoo

  24. Attention All Participants who have signed up for the extended programme,

Please advise us whether you intend to have a marathon game for mahjong, cards or Rummy-O. This is to help us with planning (eg, rental of mahjong tables, etc).

  25. To all members on the waiting list, namely
    1) Helen Wong and TK Pow
    2) Pauline Khoo
    3) Lina Tan
    4) Annie and Johnny Pow

When a place becomes available, your name will be shifted up accordingly. Priority will be in the above order. Please monitor this post closely. We will try to advise you by way of email, if possible.

We were asked why can’t we take in everybody who have registered since our post is only put up for a few days? We understand the anxiety of those on waiting list and those who did not and could not register on time. Much as we would like to accommodate as many people as we wish but we are mindful about space constraint, comfort, etc.

Those on waiting list, please hang on and wait for further updates :)

  26. All Members

Please raise your hands here if you intend to play mahjong at the Lo-hei party. We need to organise / arrange for tables and tiles for the game. If only 4 people intend to play, we will get only 1 mahjong table.

    Regards
    maywoo

  27. Dan and Yoke Moon
    Thank you for your payment.

Irene, you are number 7 on the waiting list.

Those going to Kristy and Peggy’s party this evening, do have a great time! :)
If you have not paid for the Lo-hei party and would like to settle payment, please feel free to approach either Frisna or Bira when you meet. Thank you :)

    Have a good day everyone!

  28. All those who paid at Kristy and Peggy’s party yesterday, namely
Rosalind Lee, Anne Chee, Lin Chuah and Marg Tian, thank you.

    Your payment is much appreciated.

    Lily, Sockie and Yew Kwong
Thank you for your payment transfer.

    Eileen and Karen
Thank you for advising 2 cancellations, Eileen Thean and Rina Tan.

  29. Hi Judy
As we have 2 cancellations, we have moved Helen Wong and TK Pow under registered. Kindly advise them to secure their places as soon as possible. Pay on or before 11 Jan 2014 please.
    Thank you

  30. FYI, we will do a site visit of the allocated unit soon to make some assessments for our planning. We will let you know our progress and advise you on the post.

Those on waiting list, please note that the Q is shorter now. Your Q number is automatically shifted up too.

    Have a great day! :)

  31. Is there a spot for learners for mahjong? Or a beginner table? How about singalong sessions? I am game for both as a marathon session. And will there be beds?

  32. Hi Lydia
Friends will be busy playing bun-luck and bingo la. There is no beginners’ mahjong corner unless you form a group among yourselves at the chalet. Rental of tiles and table available at the resort (your own arrangement please).
Also no sing along as no blasting of loud music is allowed. No sound proof system there.
Chalet sure come with beds but we can’t reserve a bed for everyone….only 2 queen and 4 single beds. We have cast a little reminder in our post for those who wish to stay on for extended programme. They have to be prepared to rough it out to rest at any available corner.
    Regards,
    may

  33. Richard and Dan
Mahjong for both of you is noted. Frisna will post some pointers for mahjong players by next week.

Payment with thanks from following 6 persons

    Thank you!

  46. Hi EO and team

You have done a wonderful job today. I am so glad I attended. I had thoroughly enjoyed myself. Although I knew from start that you have a very strong team and this event will surely be a success, you have exceeded my expectation.

It was clear that you ladies put in a lot of thoughts in the planning, the execution and hard work in making this event fun for everyone that came.

Well done to all – May, Susan CH, Peggy, Frisna, Bira, Ann Lim, Theresa Seow and Arthur – A Big Thank You.

    Cheers
    Lily

  47. Hi May

Thank you for organising the “Lo Hei”. We enjoyed ourselves.
Also,we would like to thank Peggy, Arthur, Frisna, Bira, Ann, Susan, Theresa and you for all the work hard behind the scene amid the busy schedule you have.
    Kong Xi Fatt Chye!

  48. A Big Hip Hip Hooray (flags waving, horns tooting, confetti flying, wild whistles) to May and her teammates!

All of us had a wildly hilarious time, especially during Bingo!

Every aspect was detailed down to the nines. A welcome with red hong pows, the Chai Sen Yeh (including how he was tricked to be one), the tea items with fruits, the ban luck table with colored chips, the majong game played with golden tiles in an air-conditioned den, a place for everyone to toss the Lo Hei Salmon, a dinner with every meat included and served with 2 desserts, the Bingo! with trade mark Bingo cards, the lucky draws and down to the girly hairbands the committee wore. Arthur, what happened to yours……….?

Noticed there were others who had helped too. Annie with the yee sung, Irene with an SOS call for kasturi lime and Lisa contributed meats of a suckling pig and roasted chicken.

The good thing is, all these are but a prelude to our next date. A round-the-world trip by the 58 (May please confirm this number so I can start working on the amount to disburse) of us sponsored by the courtesy of none other than the winner i.e. me, of the $10million Toto draw!

Thank you, May and party for a wonderful time (standing ovation, clap clap clap and encore encore).

See you at Terminal 3, gals and guys!
All my bags are packed, I am ready to go.
I am standing here at Terminal 3 ………..”

    Cheers, Everyone! TUA HUAT AH!!!!

  50. Hi EO May & committee,

Thanks for initiating & organising the Lohei gathering for the Horse Year.

I have enjoyed myself with the good yisheng, deligelious dinner & the get – together with the company with everyone of you, just too bad that I need to leave early for another gathering and missed the fun after the dinner.

  54. A BIG Thank you to the organizing committee of this Lo Hei gathering @ Aloha Resorts. Every single one of the committee member was working zealously and in co-ordination to ensure all the guests (that’s us members) had a good time. It’s not easy organizing such a big event but the Wonder Women & Wonder Man pulled it off and it’s obvious the get-together was a BIG success!!!!

    Cheers to all
    Ros

  55. Dear Lily
We are happy for you “SHC da jie da” to attend our event. We are now even happier that you enjoy it and that it exceeds your expectation!

Indeed a lot of work had been put in to make the lohei a success. My salute goes to
1.MAY, who despite facing family difficulty (her brother is in 4th stage of cancer fighting for his life and she is tasked to look after the arrangement when he is gone) still thinking of how to make ALL the participants happy by looking into all the matters including the nitty gritty things (the Deco, door gift, lucky draw, name tag, uniformity for committee etc). Every time she cried and in low mood we asked her to take care of personal thing first and we would handle things for her. But being a very responsible person she had to do it herself and went ahead with whatever she had to do including charting the income and expenses sheet carefully (making sure we are not running into deficit) went to reccee the chalet etc. On the day itself she woke up early in order to get the specially ordered banana cake for one of the members birthday then went to chalet early hoping for the early release of key to our unit. And the whole evening I saw her spending lots of time in the kitchen preparing lohei, washed the utensils, mob the floor etc till the wee hours! What an EXCELLENT EO! (Especially first timer)
    2. SUSAN: after knowing that she got cancer (very early stage) in late Dec and having to rest for 6 weeks after the operation, she informed us that she had to pull out being co-EO. But after knowing it’s a minor surgery, she charged ahead in helping us. And Despite doctor advice to rest and not carry any heavy stuff. She still went ahead sourcing for the caterer, make sure the lohei ingredient is fresh salmon, instruct maid to make the lantern, invited us to her house for home made siew yoke cum briefing session etc (also bought the hair band for us to wear). AN IRON LADY!
    3. ANN, for spending so much time doing the bingo tickets (design, print, pattern of games, prize money etc) as well as going extra mile looking for Chai Shen Yeh head gear, costume, beard. then redo it (add the white sleeve, lengthen the robe etc). Two days before the D day she broke her ankle but none of us knew about it until she arrived! Without her bingo the fun would be less.. A TRULY BINGO QUEEN!
    4. PEGGY, although we invited her much later to join, she came in enthusiastically (despite her minor operation as well) and did a great job in tracking the payments. She is the one who persuaded Simon to be the CSY too. AN EXCELLENT PERSUADER! (who could sell ice to Eskimo)
    5. THERESA and BIRA: both brave and helpful first timer!

  56. Wow, Frisna.
I was certain there were “sweat & blood” so to speak, in preparing this event and did have a glimpse of ‘behind the scene’ when May related some little details through tears that evening. But, wow, this goes beyond all that putting up of smiling and cheery frontals. Thank you Frisna for enlightening us. I salute you ladies wholeheartedly.! :)

  57. Hi Lily, our Da Jie Da
Thank you for your attendance and appreciating what we have done for all participants.
Yes, indeed team FB STAMP have worked hard, very hard to bring out the best in us for the interest of the participants. I guess it was better we ‘under promise and over deliver’.

Team FB STAMP rocks with 2 Aces behind us.
Ace number 1 – Arthur Yap, without whom, we can’t have our logistics in place
Ace number 2 – my other half who has been very supportive throughout.

I’ve been truly blessed by people around me.

  60. Dear May, Susan, Frisna, Ann & Members of the Organising Committee,

Congratulations on your successful event. Although I was disappointed at not being able to attend the Lo Hei party, it’s so good to hear that everyone who attended had a good time.
Dear May, I am sure with the TLC fr his family n friends, his journey will be less painful. Do take good care of yourself too.
Dear Susan, great to know it was the early stage and you nipped it in the bud. I wish you good health n you take good care of yourself too.
Dear Ann, I hope your ankle is recovered and back to normal. Do take good care too. At our age, we have to watch every step we take cos I also nearly trip while going down the stairs but fortunately there was the railing :)
This is the second fab Lo Hei party which I missed due to clash of appointments. I shall work out my schedule carefully next year. Salute to you Ladies!
    Happy Lunar New Year!
    Cheers
    Carly

  61. Dear May and organising committee,
Reading the feedback on the Lo-Hei gathering, I am impressed with the programme put up for members and the effort, time and resources put in by the team. I wish you well on the personal level.

The Club has many talented and dedicated members. To you and your team, thank you for showing the way to be an EO.

    Terence Seah

  62. Fris,

Thanks to you, old friends who have disappeared are re-appearing after hearing your news. But I’m fine, please don’t worry friends. Like what Caroline said, got it nipped in the bud, and it’s not even a lump. I got back to work two weeks after surgery so it’s a good thing that it was quite “uneventful”, an expression doctors like to say for good recovery. No point fretting over it, life must go on, I don’t think much about it. Thanks for your concern Caroline and all those who contacted me. I’m looking forward to my Bintan trip next month, 5th March. Oya anyone still interested in a Bintan – see if I can still get a place for you. Eh thanks again, Fris, now I can “re-advertise” for my Bintan trip!

  63. Hi Carly
Thank you for writing. Your encouraging words, praise and support are appreciated. We are all taking a good break now.
Hope to see you soon in one of the SHC events.

    Dear Terence
Thank you for appreciating and believing in us. We were just doing what we could for fellow members.
May we wish you all the best in happiness and most importantly, in health!

    Warmest Regards
    Team FB STAMP
