I.T. Project (Teaching The Seniors)

SHC is collaborating wif YWCA 2 conduct I.T. lessons 4 their senior members at YWCA, Outram Rd campus. Proposed lessons will be conducted on Tue evenings n Sat mornings starting in mid-May 08.

The proposed lessons are –

1) Tue evenings, 7.15 pm to 9.45 pm – Computer Appreciation – familarisation on operating a PC n navigating Windows

2) Sat mornings, 10.00 am to 12.30 pm – Email n Internet – Doing emails n surfing internet

3) Future courses – MS applications like Word, Excel n PowerPoint plus others

We would like 2 invite interested members 2 join us tis Project 2 teach or assist.  Don’t worry even if u don’t know how, we will train u 2 become one.

Rain or shine, the project is on.

Sessions are confirmed and will be held on Sat mornings only.  Scheduled dates as follows –

2) Sat 7 Jun 08, 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. – Email n Internet

All registered member volunteers will be given the softcopy notes n ‘what to do" guide for references. Please feel free to come in on Sat, especially Tue members.  With all your support, we shall make SHC’s 1st I.T. project with external organisation a success.

    I.T. classes are gd trg 4 both savvy n non-savvy ppl. Here is how it goes –

    Know how 2 – will render assistance wen participants raise hand n solve rite away

    Dun know how 2 – get the other ard u 2 assist n u watch how its been done n nx time u try it out urself.

    Computer appreciation – guide them closely during practical session n explain, if needed

    Email n internet – same as abv but imptly make sure they stay on course

    I believe the participants will have varying knowledge & skill sets on PC.
    It will be good if you could email the course outlines/topics etc as it might give us an inkling of what to expect.

    Will you be conducting
    how to SIMPLE EDIT and POST digital SHC photos on the web site with notes supplemented.

    If so how much do you charge per lesson ?

    I am interested to learn and would like to register if there is such a post.

    U dun nid 2 take course fr me. Can show u provide u hv e software tat came wif ur purchase of digital camera otherwise download it from manufacturer’s website. Once u hv them just gv me a twinkle. We can sit at Mcdonald 2 share a session while hvg breakfast.

    When can we expect to recieve the soft copy of notes on what we are supposed to do and how to do the job.

    I am not IT savy, just know the basic minimum.

    The softcopy shd rch all registered member volunteers by mid of nx wk. No wori as u oredi possess the min. The focus is on guiding the senoirs. U will soon feel at home aft 15 min.

    Thank you 4 coming fwd 2 show ur support 4 a gd cause.

    In appreciation, I will show u guys on tis Sat n nx aft the class on how 2 edit (the basic steps only) ur photos taken by digital camera. It’s plain simple n ez. Just bring ur memory card along or ur camera if u dun noe how 2 take out the card.
