May Monthly Walk – Sat 10 May 2008

Hi everyone,
For May we choose Sembawang Park & Bottle Tree & Canal for our Monthly Walk.

Date/time –      Saturday  10th May 2008, meet 4.30pm
Meet  at  –        Sembawang Park terminal bus stop.(just next to park)

Going there, alight at   Sembawang MRT station, then proceed to  the bus interchange , next to Sun Plaza Shopping centre, just 2 minutes away. Take SBS bus 882 to Sembawang Park approximately 4 bus stops away.Short bus ride takes about 10 minutes.
We walk leisurely in the park. Sembawang Park  is slightly elevated and has a   beach frontage with Straits of Johore in background. Then we walk to  the ‘Bottle Tree Village’, via Andrews Ave and along a small kampong road,  takes about 20 minutes. The road is narrow , shaded and will bring back memories of yesteryears. Bottle Village is located next to the sea. When we reach Bottle Village Restaurant, we take a rest then proceed alongside a large canal for a 2km walk, looking out for birds and watch the sun set as we go along.
At the end of this canal walk,we reach our our final destination, a coffee shop with a popular Thai food outlet which previously operated at Sembawang Shopping Centre.

  1. Hi Charles

You sure can plan romantic places to walk around.

We are having our Tennis, Gym and Swimming Fellowship in the East on the same afternoon/evening.

Enjoy your walk in the North.

  2. Hello JuneL,

For May 08, the monthly walk is at the North, Sembawang Park leh, very near your house. Want to join the walk?

    Ah Nee

  3. Arthur , the ending point of our walk is where Yishun Ave 2 connects to Canberra Link, too far to walk back to starting point at Sembawang Park. Suggest you take public transport there, more convenient. If need to, park at vicinity of yishun mrt, then take mrt to starting destination. On return journey take bus to Yishun mrt.

  4. Hi Charles Wee, Christina C, Veronica Wong & Mary T,

Johnny walker,Steven would like to join all of you.I MISS the last walk because same day I had to be at Pengarang, M’sia.

If only I could split my body into 1/2. One for walking and the other goes cycling. LOL

  5. Liu HM was more than a foot shorter than you but Leong managed to divide her into 1/7ths. So, if you ask Liu T to split you into 1/70ths, no sweat…………and so you hv no excuse to give the next time liao.

  6. Hi Mary Chan,

I often see many of your comments that you often register for SHC events but last minute you will BACK out similar to another SHC member I know.

Are you of the KIASU type of mentality?

    Is there a problem ?

Not to take any offence but it is a truth.

  7. Steven,

When I see an event I like, I register for it, but my work schedule isn’t like any normal office worker (and teacher, for that matter) who works from 9 to 5 Mons to Fridays. I am a substitute teacher and most of my working days are the weekends, especially in the evenings.

Those are the the times when few people want to take on assignments, especially when they are last minute ones.

I enjoy what I do and I don’t mind accepting these assignments, especially when the money is good. ;-)

There are always other SHC events that I can participate in. So, your assumption that I’m kiasu, is a rather short-sighted and narrow minded one, don’t you think? Think out of the box Steven.

  8. Hi Mary Chan at #18 ,

…I am a substitute teacher and most of my working days are the weekends, especially in the evenings..Those are the the times when few people want to take on assignments, especially when they are last minute ones.

    Ok. Thanks for your explanation.
I am v. SORRY for assuming.

1000 apologies, no heart feelings ok? Made up with tea or 1000 kisses ? LOL

  9. Hi EO’s. Good news. I can make it after all, but don’t know if I will have the energy to complete the walk. Might fall asleep halfway.
Steven, perhaps a nice, cool iced lemon tea will help, haha.

  10. Hi Mary Chan at 21 ,

  12. Hi CharlesW, ChristinaC,VeronicaW & MaryT,

I am VERY SORRY that I had forgotten the date and went happily to the Novena’s Velocity California Fitness Centre for yoga, weight training and sauna.

When it was over at 5.00 pm and on my way back to Clementi by MRT , I checked my mobile and saw an SMS from Alice asking abt my whereabouts. Then I suddenly realised that I had MISSED the walk.

Understd from Alice, that you all waited for me for 1/2 hr, VEry paiseh, paiseh, Next time, I better write it down in my diary and can’t leave it to memory.

    Sorry again folks,

    SC

  13. Steven,
talking about “making a mountain out of a mole hill”! Look who’s talking.
After all that grousing about my ‘backing out’, you didn’t show up yesterday. Next time perhaps YOU will think first before shooting off your mouth.
I was actually waiting for my iced lemon tea. If you still want to give me a 1000 kisses, my toes are waiting, hehe. much prefer 2 iced lemon teas. ;-)

  14. Hi Mary Chan at #26,

I DID NOT Back Out but I sincerely forgotten about the Walk until Alice Seah sms me. Where am I ? I was puzzled at 1st.,no there is no event how come you said that. Then I begin to realise that I had MISSED the walk and had sent my apologies to all walkers concerned and will NOT miss tonight’s listening to music and see SHCians Dance All Night Long.

…If you still want to give me a 1000 kisses, my toes are waiting, hehe. much prefer 2 iced lemon teas. ;-)

…. I’m in a cheeky mood today and can’t resist playing “a Tim Liu”.

In that case, I will not kiss but I will TICKLE your toes 1000 times till you go “HIGH” and yearn for more.Arrgggh!
    LOL.

    SC

  15. Steven,
read properly before shooting off your mouth again. I didn’t say you backed out.
It’s terrible how some people can misread and misconstrue a comment.
I was being sarcastic when I said my toes were waiting.
What a waste of satire. Oh well, too bad.
