  2. Hi Jie,

Hope you had an immeasurable joyous X’mas and looking forward to welcoming the New Year. Pls register me for this gathering in Jan when I shall be catching up with as many SHCians.

    Cheers!

  3. Hi Lim Sam,
I would like to point out first, that Jie is the Event Organiser and any question about this event should be directed to her, but I will answer this one on her behalf.
Yes of course you are welcome. There is no segregation of sexes in SHC. All are welcome, as long as you are a signed up member of SHC. See you there.

  4. “There is no segregation of sexes in SHC.”

Well, I think it’s already done naturally……….I hv yet to find a bi or one who cross-dresses in our midst……

  5. Good day Jei,

It will be our first timer at this meeting.
Put mysef and wife (Jenny Leong)for the second session. See you there. Best regards/Paul Leong

  6. ah…Leyley Ho, so u coming for this gathering…good for u!…after u see so many frenly ‘mischievious’ faces…u surely die to go D&D…

  7. Jie,
I will assist you in the registration if you still want my help. I’ve already explained to you why I can’t stay for the whole duration of the meetin on the 17th of Jan. I have my dance class on Thurs at 7 pm at Tampines West CC and it will take me at least 45mins to get there.
If you need my help, I will come in for the early session, but I can’t stay beyond 6pm.

  8. Hi David,
I think you are at the wrong posting.
If you are really interested in meeting SHC members view this post I am writing. Register for it and come.
    Rgds…………….Jie

  9. Hi Terence. Thanks for guiding me to register
for this meeting. This is my first time at SilverHairs, and I will attend the 15.00 – 17.30 hrs meeting on 17 Jan 2008

  10. Thank you for the invitation. My wife (Sally) and I will be attending your meeting. This is our first meeting with fellow SiverHairs and we look forward to it. Rgds…. Jimmy & Sally Chew

  11. All of us have been looking for a large venue to accommodate the increasing number of SilverHairs. And, still looking for new venues. Besides size, the venue should be able to keep cost of F&B low, yet flexible enough to meet members’ wide taste buds and health needs.

We have been using Hans Cafe @ Great Eastern for a number of occasions, because of size and flexibility. But, they have told me not to make too much noise, as our large presence tend to disturb the other diners. Also, Hans requires us to buy a F&B package by pax, but I prefer flexibility for members to buy off the counter. Hans is agreeable.

We are glad to receive assistance from SHC member Chian Wah, who is in touch with Hans management. She is assisting us to look at their floor plans and maybe have a section for our use.

I encourage your assistance to look out for venues – big venues like Hans Cafe for monthly gatherings and small venues for chitchats. The places can be in the Jurong, Tempenis, Sengkang, Woodlands or the CBD.

  12. Hello Terence and Jie,

My wife (Seok Cheng) and I just registered as a new member. We’ll be attending this meeting on 17th Jan and are looking forward to meet new friends.
    Thanks
    George lee

  13. hi there,

i have been a side-member of SHC since it was started in the beginning. though i have not done much or helped anything since, i would love to take this chance to join in the gathering this 17 Jan, 2008. please register me.

    Happy New Year!!!

    thank you & best regards,
    Tommy Chua

  14. Hi Jie,

Sorry for my last-minute notification. I’d overlooked that I’m supposed to bowl for my league tournament on 17 Jan, thus, am unable to attend this gathering.

Please omit my name in your Register.
    My apologies.

    Thanks
    Sue

  15. One of our members has assisted to speak with Hans management to allocate a section for us this Thur, 17 Jan 2008.

There are no package fees for the use of the place, and cordoning of a section. However, participants are asked to individually buy their drinks or food from the counter. In some previous gatherings, we do not buy food or drinks at the Hans Cafe, and this was a concern to the venue owner.

Look forward to seeing the retired SilverHairs and still-working SilverHairs on Thursday.

  16. To block off an EXCLUSIVE area for our SHC SOCIAL GATHERING would be an excellent idea.

Nevertheless, HANs is a restaurant and if we are not paying any fee for usage, then the least all SHC members could do is to order foods and drinks from the counter. There was a previous incident where certain SHC member even brought their own water!

Don’t forget that we are blocking during their peak hours

  17. Terence’s comment #54. I m in total agreement. Members are encouraged 2 least purchase a drink. If U are not consuming it, U can just pass it on. :)

Dan’s comment #56. Tis is a common sight at our gatherings, activities n special functions, as some members wld drink from their own bottles. The secret is in the mixture. But again, these members are encouraged 2 least purchase a drink. If U are not consuming it, U can just pass it on. :)

Tim’s comment #55. Han’s dun sell unless his other partner, Han Sup is around. LoL.

  18. YK, you not so ok today………since when did Han Sup sell beer? He has been selling condoms, Joy’s stick. His sister Han Li Poh runs the Hanty Dainty social escort services & the well endowed Haney, the mummy, is where you get all yr drinks……….

  19. Hello Silverhairs,

Please register me, Lina Ho, for this gathering at Hans for the working group.

I also like to take this opportunity to let those who are seeking for jobs to write to me at linaho@zenyu.biz.
I am looking for SALES PROMOTERS to launch our jointcare products.

  20. Hi Ron Lai,
Thanks for pointing the duplications. I have no idea how it happened. Anyway, have rectified it.
Tks and see you and Alice on Thurs…….Jie

  21. Hi, Jie:

Re #59, could you please amend my wife’s name from Rosalind Koh to ROS CHAN.

She’s using her maiden name to avoid confusion as there is another Rosalind Koh in SHC.

    Thanks,

    Ron Koh

  22. Good for you Carly…get to know the newbees..& ‘promote’ our D&D..

  25. Hi Jie

Sorry for late response but I’ll be there. Will be my first meeting and hope to make some new friends. Am working so will be there around 7pm.

    Pat

  26. Hi Jie,

Sorry for late reply as not too sure whether I can complete my year end accounts closing in time, anyway I only can be there to meet all of you around 7.30pm as I finish work @6.30pm.
Terrance mentioned Han’s cafe ever told him try not to make too much noise to disturd the other diners, can I suggest another place – Teo Heng KTV music centre which located at Katong Shopping ctr & price are reasonable- S$40/= for big room from 1-7pm & drink charge at S$1/= per can, only problem is the big room only can fix for 8-12persons, may suitable for small group gathering. Thanks!

  27. Hi Judy,
Hope you can make this gathering. You can see for yourself then that we do need a big area to accommodate and contain a large group. Thanks for input.
    Be seeing you tomorrow………Jie

  28. Judy, suggestions are always wellcome and you hv made 1.

Attendees may exceed the number 67 as it now stands, such as me arriving unannounced since no limit is pre-set.

A room for 12 is too small.

Anyhow, I suppose we’re all sensible adults talking sensibly esp after we hv been advised by the joint’s mgt, the decibels generated shdnt be much higher than what can be expected from 70 persons fr the same group but in a shared public place.

It’ll be amazing if all 70 will speak at the same time……………then like someone I spoke with just now asked, who will do the listening?

  29. Today, we are likely to have many SHC members joining the event. And Hans Cafe has been identified as suitable, because it is big and has a wide selection of F&B items to meet members’ healthy diet.

With flexible arrangements with Hans@Great Eastern, we can host bigger events. From now on, we can have Saturday afternoon gatherings, and the numbers can reach 200 – 300 people. Jie has done an excellent job to organise today’s event. And, I am hoping to find more Event Organisers for future monthly gathering at Hans. Come enjoy the company of SHC friends. Look out also for Kenneth, Christina and Dan Huang.

If you love to be to be an Event Organiser at Hans, please raise your hand.

    Terence Seah

  30. Hi Jie,

    Please register Philip & me.
We will bring our name tags.

Sorry for the late registration. Kept getting ” this page cannot be displayed” when I tried getting into the SHC website. Something wrong with my PC. Too old, I guess. It shares the same birthday as me!

    Priscilla Wee :)

  31. Hi Jie..
me too…sori for being the last to register..
as promised if my fren cant make our appt, I will attend yr event to say hello to newbees & bumble bees..hehe

  32. Hi Jie

Thanks for organising the gathering. Had a good time meeting old and new friends. Had so much to talk about that some of us left after 8.30pm. :)

  33. The gathering yesterday was may first, and it was wonderful to finally get to meet fellow SHCians.

I had a good time – among many others, I did get to know Catwoman, Robinson Crusoe (re #79) and a spritely chappy who makes a great masseuse, but I believe I missed Batman.

    Cheers,

    Ron Koh

  34. Hi Judy at #72,

Perhaps you can organize one at KSC, for sharing, singing (trained)talents, would be good singers…learn techniques from skillful ones.

    Cheers, Andrew

  35. Hi SHCians,

The gathering yesterday was a huge success with a larger turnout than expected. Those who turned up expectedly or unexpectedly contributed to it. The diverse interests and the mingling of the people made a great impact.

I would like to give a salute to the great help Kenneth, Christina and Dan accorded to me, without them, I would have been overwhelmed.

    Once again, a big

    THANK YOU……………..Jie

  36. Hi! Andrew,

Actually I enjoy signing & looking forward to organize the karaoka section. I agreed what you mentioned that can train for talents, only problem room are to small to fix for large group of members, do you have any places to suggest can let more members to join in for fun & train more talents for future Karaoka competition.hihi…

    Jie,

Thank you being organizer for the event yesterday & let me got the opportunity to meet others members.

    Cheers!

  37. Hi Ron,

I was looking forward to meeting you but I left early, so missed you. Maybe the next gathering. Or come join us cycling this afternoon.

I think you met batman and catwoman. Robinson Crusoe left early due to work commitments. Correct me if I am wrong, Tim.

  38. Hi June,

I am terribly embarassed. During the evening, one June spoke with me about a demonstration to make “Ang Pow fans”. Unfortunately, I forgot which June. I wrote to a few Junes, but I was told wrong June.

June, please proceed with your idea of holding a demo “Making Ang Pow fans”. Very nice of you.

    Terence Seah

  39. I am usually all ears at gatherings. During one conversation, I was asked to compile a list of members, with their contacts and interests, and share the list with other members.

I won’t apologise. This is one request which we will always turn down. Members database are confidential, and will not be released.

SilverHairsClub members are encouraged to participate in activities, organised by other members. Members are also encouraged to organise their own interest activities too. Partipation on this forum is also a fun way to meet new friends. So, have fun.

    Terence Seah

  40. Hi, Lina (#87):

We did meet, but very briefly. I did meet Robinson Crusoe – I was handed his camera and played photographer when he left early. On second thoughts, I did meet Kenneth as well, but couldn’t tell because he didn’t have his Batman costume on. :o)

Would have liked to join you guys at East Coast today, but I have another engagement.

    Cheers,

    Ron Koh

  41. Hi Ron,

Now I know who you are, ‘cos I saw you holding the camera when I left. Always see your posting but wondered who you are?

So, are you the tall guy in the grey and black checked top. (Correct me if I am wrong). Just nice as my dancing partner. Want to join social dance? You can join us cycling next month.

  42. Ron @ #93

    Be strong. Believe in yourself.

Take strength in Lord Lyttelton’s words
“None without hope e’er loved the brightest fair,
But love can hope where reason would despair.”

You can still hope to find the brightest fair with two right feet.

  43. Lina @87, correct you for what?

The american marvel heroes went hiding when they saw Tong Sam Zhong and his 3 disciples. So it was batman & crusoe but sumokong & ter bakwai.

Wong Fei Hoong did make a cameo appearance b4 his next bout with Sek Kin.

  44. My dear Tim,

Confirm if Kenneth is Batman and Dan is Crusoe. I am not interested in your other disciples lah!

Now you so free, should be putting on weight. Are you or losing it for D&D?

  45. By now you shd know that you live in a very strange world of unsolicited attentio, unrequited love……..and Ter Bakwai is interested in you and he asked me how to get you interested in him too.

    Told him to be natura;.

So if you see a pig waiting outside yr house or climbs into yr bathroom thru the window, it’s bcos he took my words literally………..

  46. Hi Ron #93,

Crusoe who is in charge of social dance was once called a ‘fridge’, but now this so called ‘fridge’ has got wheels. It all boils down to practice.

Guess, it all depends on ones interest more than anything else. Anyway, see you around.

  47. Vic is on auto drive & she’s doing fine?

Maid, heeeee, she is lying on the bed since the morning……………want her for a day i.e. lie on yr bed?
