Personal Car for Hire

Hi SHC,

Owning a car is expensive and also especially if it is not used much. As i am retired and am not in need of the car most of the time.  I am offering my car for rent to SHC members and also the service of easy pickup and return around Central MRTs.

I also found out that it is perfectly legal to do, as LTA encourages such a private ownership scheme to rent out their vehicle during weekends.

If anyone has such a need call me or SMS me, and we can discuss the arrangements.

By the way , my car is a Sunny Auto 1.5, Year 1998, so it is about 7.5 years old and is running great.

Cheers, Ronald Wi

  1. Hi Ronald,

Great idea to have a return on investment over depreciating assets. Furthermore, this may open the possibility of buying second hand cars and rent out before scrapping it. Work out the maths. Could be quite profitable.

What about accident or damage? How do you work around your insurance?

  2. I welcome this idea too. Will rent yours as and when the need arises. Perhaps listing down your rates here will save you many unncessary enquiries.
Would also like to hear your address on Ronald’s enquiry about accident/damage and insurance payments.

  3. Hi there SHC members,

I will be getting a brand New MPV Taxis (7-seaters, Sanyyong Rodius 2.7 litres) from SMRT on 16th or 17th September’2006 and currently I am considering to sub let out my Honda Civic ESI for those who can take great care of it as I do. Though it is past 10 years car, the car is is good running condition.
Party interested, please let me know and we can work out a plan for sharing the car.
    Thanks.

  4. Hi all,

Well nothing like having a first customer to iron out terms & conditions. But importantly to note, it should be taken more as a friendly loan of a car between 2 friends. Insurance coverage is by the owner’s insurance and basic excess fees of $500, applies. Rates for local daily local use is $30 (100km a day, not including petrol),in increments of half a day usage,or even on hourly usage, on a friendly basis, driver included if required, for a price of a meal ? Pick-up points at convenient central MRT station and time is flexible. Take it as a friendly borrowing rather than a rental, as i mentioned ,it is just a waste if someone needs a car for some purpose, when i just leave it parked under the tree.

    Cheers
