  1. Hi Janet,
Please reserve 2 tkts for Charles Chua and Tian Soo.
Charles will be paying me shortly.

Also one ticket for Richard Yee. He has paid me already.
Can you give him a seat near to mine.
    Tks
    Molly

  2. As with all monthly events, we hope to give plenty of time for you to meet other new and old members. We hope you will come early by 6pm. After registration with Janet Heng and her team, please go to the Heliconia Room, where you will meet other members. Snacks, drinks and refreshment here. Should you need to be introduced, please catch hold of Susan Chan.

The other committee members will be very busy at the Auditorium, so have fun while getting to know one another.

  3. Hi everybody,

One of SHC oldest members is Patrick Yeo. He has always being a great supporter of the club. A vibrant character, big size though, you may bump into him at the airport or the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. He works in the taxi tourist industry.

In previous singing events, I have heard him sing Hokkien songs. And he will dedicate another hokkien song to you this coming Stars-in-Concert on 11 Jan. Right from his heart, Patrick hopes the song will tell people that Lion Dances attract both the young and old. It encourages both aunties and uncles to join in the fun, and that Lion Dance performances require tremendous skill and training. Lion Dancing is agile and well received among the Chinese, especially when performed during auspicious occasions.

Do you know the title of this Hokkien song?

  4. Sengh teases our minds when he asks :-

“Patrick will tell people that Lion Dances attract both the young and old. It encourages both aunties and uncles to join in the fun……performances require tremendous skill and training….is agile and well received ……especially when performed during auspicious occasions. Do you know the title of this Hokkien song?”

Sure I know and it gets top billing at community centre functions esp the auspicious ones like CNY, National Day celebration, Xmas etc. with uncles and aunties swaying like neatly lined willows close enough to tempt each other but without touching.

Do pls listen intently to his song cos he is going to tell us how lion dancing has become line dancing as he shows us how the lion escapes from the line of dancers. and if you know him, a huge lion you will see.

  5. Hi Lily

  16. “Stars-in-Concert” final rehearsal is on this Friday evening at the Serangoon Garden Country Club auditorium.

To recap, the schedule for the monthly gathering cum concert is as follows:

1800 – 1900 hrs – Please come early. Registration. Please bring your name tag. Light refreshments and Get-to-meet other members at the Heliconia Room. Host: Susan Chan.

1915 – 1930 hrs – Please be seated at the auditorium. Urshers: Janet Heng, Constance Wong, Ann Lim, Grace Wong and LH Jie. Doors close at 1930 hrs.

    1930 – 2015 hrs (approx) – 1st session of Stars-in-Concert.
    2015 – 2045 hrs (approx) – Break time.
    2045 – 2200 hrs (approx) – 2nd session of Stars-in-Concert.

We are likely to get a clearer schedule, after our rehearsal this Friday.

The concert proper (Sessions 1 & 2) have been skilfully choreographed by Lily Ho.

Up at the back of the audiotrium, and facing the stage at the audio room is Ronald Lee, who will be monitoring what’s happening on stage and playing the music, as the singers come on stage and are being introduced.

Our pair of comperes are Catherine Yeo and Thomas Loh. Besides the concert announcements, both Cat and Thomas will be introducing the singers. Both are great fun comperes.

Making the sure the stage looks good are Karen Thio and Juine Tan. Watch out for the delicate work of the back-drops.

And, very important, Molly Chua who has provided us this opportunity to use the SGCC auditorium and the Heliconia Room, the same place where we held the 1st D&D. Here, Molly also coordinates the refreshments and drinks.

And, to all participants in the audience, you are invited to sing along, cheer, clap and support the singers and performancers who have come on stage to make the evening entertaining.

The evening concert and get-together will be fun. We may not be professionals as concert organisers; but we hope you will enjoy yourself. A little hiccup here and there will make the evening memorable. Thank you everbody.

    Terence Seah

  17. Dear Celia

Spoken with SK Chua. She will take over yr seat C3 and return u yr $16.She will, however, sit in seat F7.U do not need to make payment for C2.I will delete the reservation.I want to help and hope that I am not setting it as a precedent for others. Please understand that we are a helpful and understanding committee and we carry out our duties with love and commitment.

Thanking all and have a good day, JanetH.

  18. Dear Janet,

Tks for your info. No need to return me, in fact, I had just deposited $16 for seat C2 at Plaza Spore DBS Br into Terence A/c. So sorry again for all inconvenience. Hope to meet up with you someday in SHC other events. Best regards.

  19. Hi Janet

  20. Dear Celia
Yes, I hope to meet you too.U are a nice gentleman.Thank you n regards, JanetH.

    Dear Hamidah
G22 and G23 reserved for Catherine Koh and Francis Rajaratnan.Yes, cu and thanks for people like u and Ann Lim, tirelessly doing reservations for friends.I’ve tried to get friends interested but unsuccessful. You are great! JanetH.

  21. Dear Janet,

Haha, in fact, you’re the one that is really nice. I would love to come to SIC, if not for a last minute mixed up dinner arrangement that I did not know I have to attend. Maybe I can squeezed in to see the concert, for the last part of the show, yah? if Terence will open the aud. room door when I knocked? Yah??

  22. Dear Celia

I mistaken u for a gentleman. My sincere apology to u.So sweet of u not to get angry or scold me.I will let Terence answer to yr request.

    Thank you, JanetH.

  23. Dear Janet,

…well if Terence don’t open the door, I might have to climb thru the SGCC roof, do a triple somersault, with the help of good strong dangling ropes, and dangle myself into the hall. Haha, bye bye.

  24. Dear Celia

U make me laugh… yes… cos concert rule forbids the disturbance of the performance.Hope this answers yr question.
First, I wish u a nice and enjoyable dinner. And if u can, try to come during the break time 2015 – 2045 hrs (approx) and enjoy the rest of the show.

    Have a nice day, JanetH.

  25. Hi Janet

Most welcome. We just do our best to promote this SIC event. Though you are unable to convince friends to support, it’s ok you’re also “Great” in the sense that you contributed your time & effort in handling reservation & ticketing matters, other committees too for their efforts in trying to make this event a success & not forgetting all those who hv bought tickets to this concert. Very kanchong oredi ha..ha

  26. Dear Hamidah

Yes, yes!!a BIG THANK YOU to all the committees and members who have bought the tickets. It’s going to be one great and fun event.Me too very excited, man… JanetH.

  27. Yes, today 11 Jan is the date for Stars-in-Concert. We had gone through two rehearsals, and for many singers and performancers, a big thank you for having rush to the SGCC immediately after work.

Tonight, our Stars will sing a selection of English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien and Catonese songs. Some are solos, others are duets. Some dressed in their traditional costumes; but definitely everybody is in their best.

So, come early 6pm or slightly earlier, as you will need some time to find parking outside SGCC. Susan Chan and her team of ambassadors will host you at the Heliconia Room. Remember to register with Janet Heng and look out for Constance Wong, Ann Lim, Grace Wong and LH Jie, as they will ursher to your seats. Remember to be seated tightly by 7.30 pm.

Our female stars tonight include Shirleen Kao, Lin Chuah, Caroline Gee, Hamidah, Norlindah, Annie Loh, Helen Wong, Janet Chan and Peng Peng. Our male stars include Patrick Yeo, Tim Liu and Boon Liang. And, not forgetting the dancers, dancing in the background.

Come and enjoy yourself. Be crazy, stand as you like, clap, scream, whistle, dance and cheer. Let your hair down tonight. And, remember a little disorganisation makes the event memorable. A concert, organised by SHCians, for SHCians.

On behalf of the organising committee

  28. Hi Organizers and Stars,

This write-up sounds like fun. Looking forward to tonight’s programme. Norlinda, are you all ready? So you have to give JB a miss this weekend. Will be there to give you gals and guys our support. C u later.
