Developing a SilverHairsClub band and singers team

Edwin Chen (Uncle ED) has offered to develop and train a team of singers who can sync with him during live singing sessions.  He is a one-man band; and I am looking at opportunities of having him and a team of singers perform during some of our concerts, talentime and other music & dance activities.

While Edwin has other activities, I am hoping to have this program developed as a SHC project.  If you are interested in being a singer with Edwin, please do send me your singing resume via email terences@SilverHairsClub.com.  Number of participants limited to 4.  Selected candidates will be interviewed sometime next month.

The requirements are:

  1. Has been active in SilverHairsClub for at least one year.
  2. Has sung or performed in singing activities, inside or outside of SHC.
  3. Able to undergo training and practices during noon to late afternoons, initially on weekdays.

Closing date: 15 Oct 2011.

This is a good idea to have our own house-band and singers to perform at various music n dance activities.

It’s also great to limit the number of singers to 4, otherwise it’s like doing a Glee project instead – which, by the way, is an awesome series, singing-wise.

  2. Terence,

Singing and dancing is part and parcel of the SHC. While Edwin offer to guide is commendable, we may have to look at the time schedule.

The Club is not short singers, many aspirng singers have performed well in our various events and functions. Having to form a band is another piece of cake. We have Jeffrey Gan, Patrick Chan and Ronnie who have given their time and effort to sing and play for us. Other potential band players are John Howe, Dennis Wee and Ron Wie.

Most of us have not seen Edwin for quite a while and neither have I met him. It would be good if Edwin can initiate an event for us to get to know him better. This would make it easier to round up potential band players and singers.

  3. Hi Dan 2,

Yes, I too believe there are other groups who would like to play with and for SHC. However, no one has approach me so far and those whom I have approached, have turned me down for various reasons.

I am open to the idea. Perhaps, those who have expressed interest to you, please ask them to contact me. Another group would be great.
