Watching Club, Boleh?

We have the Reading Club. Perhaps we can also have Watching Club. Actually I m talking about watching movies. I believe there is good potential here 2 start one. Members can come 2gether 2 share movie reviews, exchange movies or even watching movies 2gether.

For a start, I have 2 dvd movies 2 loan out –

  1. The Host, a Korean production (Mandarin with English subtitles)
  2. Salsa, The Motion Picture (English)

I m interested to borrow shows like CSI (Las Vegas, New York n Miami), if u do have.

  6. Hi Yew Kwong,

The Host if i am not mistaken is about an alien monster from the sewage attacking the public in the field. A Sci Fi movie which i had seen in bugis junction.

  7. Hi Steven Chan,

  8. Hi SusanT

I love the movie Dirty Dancing. Watched it thrice, 1st alone, then wif wife n last wif girl fren. The sequel was not even beta than the 1st. Step Up is gd oso especially its dance moves.

  9. Wah!!

    My dear Yew Kwong!

We’re learning more about you… 3rd time with girlfriend!!

Man, when I watched Flashdance with girlfriend I almost didn’t survive when my wife found out!

    Hahaha!!

  10. Hi Kenneth

Well the nx time U can invite me 2 come along. I get U covered. LoL.

I like Flashdance. Watched it a couple of times. Gd dance moves n story.

Another of my favourite show is Shall We Dance by Richard Gere n Jennifer Lopez.

  11. Yew kwong

Do u have the flashdance DVD??? I would like to get it from u.

I love “dirty dancing & Shall we dance” too. Richard Gere is my favourite actor.

    Karen

  12. YOu’ve all got me inspired…

Tomorrow, when I’m in JB, I’ll buy the following DVDs:

    Flashdance
    Dirty Dancing
    Shall We Dance
    Salsa
    Grease

  13. Kenneth, thanks for offering to buy those DVDs. Just be careful when u cross the customs. I was just thinking aloud, would there be a suitable place, perhaps somebody’s home to watch the video together?

    Cheers, Lydia.

  14. Hi Kenneth, have I met you before?

Can you get the DVD for Flashdance & Salsa, if you don’t mind? I just like to have a collection?

As mentioned in #11, I have a handful of musical DVD. I also have ‘Shall We Dance’.

  15. Hey Yew Kwong and All,

Are DVD/CD movies bought from the “Copy-Market” allowed here in this club? Most of which, I would like to give away since no use keeping them in the store….just collecting dust.

  16. Hi Ivan

I believe we are all talking abt licenced ones. If U are talking abt “Copy-Market”, I 2 believe U mean those printed by licenced sub-publishers n are priced much cheaper.

  17. Hi, anyone has the DVD on “Mama Mia”. I maybe be crazy as this show will be released soon. Just in case, any has it. Can I loan from you?

  18. Oh, oh…!!

I must be careful about what I say or buy in JB! What I mean is that I didn’t have the time to go to the DVD shops to have a look yesterday.

The time in JB was taken up in buying mooncakes and chili prawns, having a great kaya toast, eggs and coffee, Chinese lunch at Stulang Laut and discussing travel ideas with friends.

So sorry, guys! But I don’t mind going again soon and anyone interested can join me (by bus or MRT).

  19. Hi Ken,

How is the Chinese lunch at Stulang Laut? Btw, where is it? Is it a good recommendation?

When are you going there again? If is it weekend, can always consider. Do let know.

See you around this weekend, if you are going for the Heart Rock Concert or at the EC gathering.

  20. Hi Kenneth Tan,

….going to JB …But I don’t mind going again soon and anyone interested can join me (by bus or MRT).

Would you like to join me for a PAMPERING and RELAXING
1.5h or 2h of Traditional Thai NO hanky panky massage at City Square, JB ?

You are required to put on the pair of pyjamas which they loaned to you before they start massaging you.
Very Shiok and at the end , feel V. relaxing that some customers even snored during massage.

Endorsed by the M’sian Tourism Board. Later can jalan jalan to the Halal and Non Halal food stalls along the side lanes of Jln Ah Fook. Esp. recommneded is the M’sian style black thick Hokkien mee , Penang Mee Yok and Soup kambing.

  21. Hi Susan,

And never the twain shall meet…

I will not be attending the Heart Rock Concert, but will try to make the cycling this Saturday.

JB is best on a weekday; not having to contend with the traffic and the crowds (of Singaporeans) flocking to the cheap eats and shops. So I usually go on weekdays.

Stulang Laut has several Chinese restaurants; the most famous is the Restoran New Hong Kong. We went to San Low Seafood, which was crowded with locals but I wasn’t too impressed. There are many other seafood places too, along the way towards Permas Jaya. Some months ago, a group of SHCs went to Kampong Senibong (far end of Permas Jaya) but you need a car for this.

  22. YewKwong…

maybe i shud go recky my mini library & see what’s in store & i can buka kedai!…hehe

  23. Norlinda, you are for my fair lady; Steven only goes after my fat lady so if you adore this tall handsome man enough you shd make that bit sacrifice and start gobbling up eveything that can be considered food…………………

  24. alamak YewKwong…i tompang yr thread to cakap with Terence..cos donno how to find his thread lah…suaku!

  26. Hi Norlinda,

    ……saya tak mahu jadi very fat lah..enough oredi..wanna be tall & slim lor..sangat susah!..haha

NOT susah. Everyday CYCLE To and Fro from work.
GUARANTEED to burn all your excess calories.

And in 1 month’s time you will be TALL n SLIM ,no longer chubby cute cute and chin boon will be quietly eyeing at you. Ha! ha!

  27. alamak StevenChan…
u sangat nakal called me chubby ah?..nanti saya rotan awak tau!…haha

well…i can be slim, but cant be any taller lah..kesian :)

  28. Haha, Nor, I think I got yr hint @ #29. Yes, if you want to give Steven a chance to sayang you, you need to be tall & slim like him………for obviosu reason that the outside of him you can see is long, his inside has to be long too………….if you arent long you’ll be skewered thru like bbq prawns.

  29. Hi Yew Kwong,

Sorry I was not able to be at EC gathering y’day.
Shall I pass you the ‘Red Cliff’ this Wednesday 20/8 at

    james n susan tan

  30. Hi Norlinda,

Sorry to bring up a different topic in this thread.
I think it’s important to learn another language in this
this country, esp since we have 4 races.

Care to conduct a Melayu course for those who tak boleh
    Bahasa Malaysia?

    james tan

  31. JamesTan…
U are indeed very cute & studious want to learn bahasa melayu..not Malaysia lah…mana boleh?..haha

I will be honoured to be your ‘cikgu’..others can join in if interestd to learn, u r rite its good to know some other
    language besides or mothertougue.
Maybe we can do it unofficially lah(perhaps at our mthly gathering)…since im not qualified & also sometime some words also must think hard to translate to english…apa macam! hehe..
unlike our PM last nite he spoke super malay language!…like a word he used ‘mengembling’..wow!…i felt so ashamed when i heard it!..u know what it meant?…it means ‘work hard together, join powerful force, sweat it’..in his contact speech.

Alamak..sori EO YK,this is watching club not cakap club hor?..hehe
    Anyway…Steven u tak datang gathering…so the promised ‘Apocalypto’..ahnee want to borrow first..boleh?
Maybe i will lend you ‘Blood Diamond’..also very good movie..:)

  32. Terima kaseh Tuan YewKwong..
U will be my assistant cikgu, since awak sangat pandai berbahasa melayu..not forgetting StevenChan, awak orang Malaysia..pasti no problem rite?

  33. Dear movies buddy,

Anyone got the title ‘The sound of music’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ I like to borrow them.

Sometimes watching old movies does bring back good old memory! May get older now but I still like to watch the ‘Oz’ movies!

    Dan
