Robed in by Edwin and had spoken to KT and Terence concerning SHC Blue Helmet looking for CFO.

I am above 45 years old, married with 2 children of age 15 and 8 years old respectively.

I have been a Regional Accountant for more than 15 years before progressing to Financial Planning industry to serve the needs in the Business arena. I am also involved in several social enterprise projects like property – redevelopment of eco-village nursing home(still in processs), business planning and funding including Acquisition and Mergers etc. Anything relate to Finance, I can be of help.

My interest is of Art like oil painting and fashion designing which I pick up recently after not active for many years.

My desire is to help people, the community(as long as it dont cost me my leg…)in area of my strength. That is what make my life meaningful each day. Eg I do help people find jobs, path their career and find better ways of generating income for their business.

I trust, in days to come, I can add value to SHC and be a blessing to all of you.

Hi,

needless to say both of us are new here.  We have always planned for retirement but never knew the days pass so slowly there is nothing much to do except to watch the second hand of the clock rotates 60 x 60 x24 for a day if makes us giddy and we take turns watching the second hand so we will not MISS a second we want to see life NOW, not wait until we can move and have to watch DVD to see the world we have a bit of savings and hopeful that it will stretch for a long time

we feel that one lifetime is a very short span of time-  Working everyday is not a bad thing but it robs us of at least 8 – 12 precious hours in the most useful time of our lves.  yes we need to make a living but building those wealth in excess of our needs … are these actions necessary when we go we can take them with us so that in our next life we can be benefit from this incredible feat of saving.  we have friends who have a mearge family income and top it off they have a large family… yet they are very happy because they are not attracted to the material things in life such as LCD TV and so on each weekend they spend quality time with the family by the beach or the park

I think we need to really stop and time.  we need to care very much what others think of us.  our happiness and destiny are in our own very hands.  why we need to conform to others if we are not doing anything that is against the law

we need to be free from these social and peer pressure.  the 5 C’s for instant.  we consider ourselves lucky to be able to see these things and put them to action but our friends would consider us NUTS giving up a high paying job for doing nothing at home.  believe me our relationship as husband and wife has improved by leaps and bounds.  we begin to realise that we have been selfish in pursuing our careers without giving much thoughts to the family because we keep telling ourselves ….. just a few years more

be kind to yourself and start living like a human being and not be a SLAVE OF OUR SOCIETY WHERE money and power seems to be placed above love, friendship, kindness and forgiveness.  we are just two humble human beings in this sea of people trying to be ourselves

thank you

Hello everybody,

I’m Mary, in my fifties. I’m a teacher, but am doing only short term teaching, so I have quite a bit of free time to do as I please. The problem is, I prefer to have friends to do things withemoticon. I enjoy travelling and used to do so with my two daughters, but it’s not convenient now as they have their own agenda although they do try to spend as much time as they can with me. I also enjoy dancing a little, especially social dancing, but there again, I need a partner. Anyone interested?emoticon

What do I teach? English and Phonics. English to primary and secondary school kids and phonics to little kiddies in a phonics centre.

Where have I travelled to? I’ve been to Australia, India, France, The Philippines, Japan, Thailand mostly on conducted tours, West Malaysia, Bali, Bintan, Batam on short relaxing trips but the place I have been to the most frequently is New Zealand. I started off on conducted tours, both North and South Islands and later, free and easy when I got to know the place better. I would love to visit China and Europe as well as some places in the US, especially Hawaii and to go on a cruise some day. Oh yes, I haven’t been on a real cruise yet!emoticon

I only learnt to swim and cycle in my forties and to dance (line dance) in my fifties. Talking about late bloomers, Up till then,I had been too busy taking care of the family, bringing up my girls and teaching and the free time I had was spent on sedate activities, like craftwork of which I have lots of evidence of , all in storage now.  Hopefully one day they will be appreciated, that is if they are still in good condition by then.

Well, I better keep this short or you might lose interest in my rambling. I hope to get some response. Then I can begin to make some new friends. Write soon,

Have a great day!emoticon

Hello, I am Hannah, 49, single.  I am a tutor for Pr levels.  I also have counseling experience.  I have been affiliated with www.goodsamaritanministries.org for 13 years.  I roller-blade (pro) almost every weekend at East Coast.  I am moderately active/fit.

I am not ‘religious’ although ordinarily, like in filling out forms, I’d put myself down as Christian.  I am also an individual that’s always evolving.  I just AM …

I’m going to visit Australia with my friend for 2 weeks in Nov. 2007.  I need accomodation for at least a few days and someone who knows where we could visit around the country.  I’ve lived with foreigners who have been open enough to explain ‘house rules’ and other personal or cultural practices, so I’m not a newbie in living with others overseas.  I will be most appreciative if my friend and I can get to know you through friendship in this way …

Hi all, just join the club.  Hope to find people of the same interest.  I enjoy jogging and trekking.  Try to jog at least twice a week to maintain myself though ideally  three times a week would be good.  Well, hope I can find people who can motivate me.  Usually I jog around telok blangah,  however weekends I like to jog at Botanic and Macritche.  Trekking on weekends would be perfect, like Bukit Timah Hill.  Is good to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life to take a breather which is far more economical than going overseas.

Well, don’t be scare by what I share above.  I believe anybody who likes to jog and trek can join me, regardless of the pace.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

hi everyone! I juz realized that I’ve not send in a profile after going thru’ like who’s who in the Profile column. Some of you really write like a pro! well, here goes mine; I’m born in Oct 1953, Libra, but many of my parts are made in 1907. some parts are failing already lah. emoticon  I’m blessed with a loving wife and 3 wonderful kids. [Is that how you write in the forum?] Anyway…. Been in the interior furnishing industry since 1973 and gave up in 1991. Made my move to working overseas as a Marketing Consultant and kept my promise to return after almost 10 yrs. Presently, helping out in a Yoga & Welfare org here. I joined them in 1974 when yoga was unknown. My hobbies are Golf, Mahjong, Pools, Reading & Songs. My interests are Massage, subject on Philosophies, Yoga, Meditation, Religion, UFO, Movies, Marketing strategies, Creative design aspects, did I mentioned Massage? Ahhhhh, yes, and Massage. emoticon I had a cultural shock when I came back in Mar 2000. The mindset here was that people who have reached the age of 45 and above, are considered old/ redundant? I had problem fitting in into the org here as they feel that I’m over the hill or 1 foot below the ground. That is sad. emoticon Forgot how I came to know about this club [told you some parts are made in 1907!] But I’m glad that there are so many like-minded ppl here. I hope to join in some of the activities or help out in some ways, but I’m only available on thu or fri afternoons. I like to reserve the weekends for my family. emoticon But let’s see. Well, that’s my brief and hope to fit in real soon. Take care all of you and keep smiling, at least for me. I don’t know how to smile leh. Cramp cheek muscles [yes, bad parts again!] emoticon cheers! jeremy

Hi there I am Cindy. Age 46. I am quite new to SHC having just joined one walk, one bowling session and 17 July gathering!

I enjoy reading all the comments and sharings posted. emoticon

I have been working for more than 20 years and feel it is time to take things a little easy. Hence I have quit my job in January this year. One is to spend more time with my mum and second to do something different. A different environment can inject different ideas and bring about different outcome.

Going forward I hope to be able to learn from all of you and to be able to contribute to SHC in some ways too.

I like bowling, cycling, brisk walking.

Can contact me at spring0361@yahoo.com.sg
