Hi fellow members,
Fairy Godmother is still very much alive. She is now 72, walks around with a walking stick, a bit slow in thinking and very often, sitting and resting under the mango tree. She still dangles her magic wand; but due to weak batteries, the wand seldom works well. She is now thinking of using an Artificial Intelligence Robot to help her thinking and sometimes makes decisions on a behalf.
I am sure some of you have read about a security robot that can patrol large area 24 hours a day, taking over the duties of securities guards and can smell fires, detect faces and can even call an ambulance. But sadly, about two months ago, the robot ran too fast, hit the edge of a water fountain and fell into a pool of water. Her circuitary was wet and she died.
Well fairy godmother is alive. She is still good at moderating quarrels especially among boys and girls. Unfortunately, she can’t talk, so she just waives her wand. Some some comments and posts just disappear at a “Zap”. If batteries are not well charged, sometimes nothing happens.
Fairy Godmother wants to have a smooth and quiet retirement life. But we all know boys and girls do quarrel from time to time, usually because of a misunderstanding. Fairy Godmother is happy to see the boys and girls happy, running here and there and enjoying the good lives on Singapore island.
Fairy Godmother forgets names easily. She is not perfect. If anyone likes to be a trainee God Mother, do let me know. Meantime, she is hoping that more of the boys and girls who are over 45 can help to keep the peace with SilverHairsClub.

I brought my home-made kumquat marmalade to sell for the first time in SHC 2010 flea mart. Thanks to many of you, the marmalade sold briskly. This year, I saw a bumper crop and so decided to sell the kkq marmalade once again.
FYI., the kumquat marmalade is natural, with no preservatives or artificial colouring added. It is hygienically produced and packed into tubs of about 380 gms. On wide request, the recipe has been altered to reduced the sugar content. However, It still tasted great. The price remained at $5 per tub.
If you wished to make an order, pls write to me on whatsapp or on this post. I planned to make the first delivery on 23 Aug ’17 at Gabriella’s coffee chat (see refer to her post on this subject). Thank you Gabriella for kindly consenting to this. The second delivery (for o/s orders, if any) would be at the monthly meeting but this is not finalised yet. Personal collection / delivery will have to be discussed one-on-one separately.
Thank you
Lee Hou Chong

Drinking ordinary coffee is a simple pleasure, but now the latest studies on coffee show a strong association between coffee drinkers and longevity! (ST 12/7, pg A18. )Yes, coffee drinkers appear to live longer compared with non coffee drinkers.
For decades coffee was considered an unhealthy drink. I was drinking coffee regularly and of course was worried. However a colleague pooh poohed the whole thing. She said her father-in-law was a coffee addict and drank coffee every day like water. He passed away at age 88years!
My favourite brew is kopi-O lightly sweetened with raw sugar. Sip it hot. Refreshing! If at coffee shop I will order coffee sweetened with condensed milk. Delicious!
Great news about coffee prolonging life.

SilverHairsClub started in 2005. When you first join SHC, the Club had only one objective, and that is to provide a platform for you to find and meet friends. Today, the objective remains unchanged.
Many members have found new friends and form small groups. Many go travel together, have tea and meals regularly, and go social dancing together. Some go for exercises and walks together. If not for these outings, many are happy to chit chat.
But more than 95% of SilverHairsClub members are inactive. You may be one of them. The Club likes to bring you out, and come together as seniors, over 45. While we are aware you may be busy working or looking after tiny-tots. You may also not like too much socialising or you may find the activities not suitable to your like. Or is your non-participation because we have more lady participation than men.
Well, take a step and Go Wild. You maybe exploring retirement possibilities, a part time job or some things to keep you busy. Perhaps, exploring online ecommerce where u can be anywhere and still enjoy some income to keep up with today’s modern kids.
Or fishing, golfing, camping, a wild BBQ, listening to music or reading a book.
You definitely have some ideas, that’s why you join SilverHairsClub, a club for over 45s. But if your goal is to relax and do nothing, do share with us too.
Tell us what we can do for you as a Club. You can also share what you can do for the Club. You can share on the forum or you can whatsapp me at +65 9489-4360. And the wilder, the better.
Write to us today. We look forward to hear from you.
