SHC March monthly gathering – Sat, 15 Mar 2008

Hi all SHCians,

For the first time, we will combine a monthly gathering, with another activity "SHC Flea mart".  Originally, the plan was to hold the monthly gathering at the Han’s cafe and Cake house at Great Eastern Centre.  But, since then, we have now firmed the location of the 1st SHC Flea mart,  at Bali Lane, we shall combine the two events.  The hope is that once a year, we will combine one monthly gathering with the SHC Flea Mart.

We have a 99% chance these two events are ON.  The likely dates are 8, 9 or 15 March, afternoon.  Please note these dates as the announcement will be made very very soon.

This monthly gathering strictly for SilverHairsClub members only.  Flea Mart buyers will come from members and the public.

Date : – 15 March 2008

Time : – 3 pm. – 8 pm…..or until all goods are sold.

Place : – Scorebot., Bali Lane – Junction of North Bridge Road and Ophir Road.

This is going to be very exciting. SHC’ s First Flea Mart will be held in conjunction with the Monthly Gathering, so fun will be had by all.

The vendors will strictly be SHC members, but please do encourage – relatives, friends or rope in any members of the public to come and see our wares.

15 tables have been reserved by Scorebot, each measuring 5’x4′. Bring a table cloth as this will enhance your wares. Each table rents for $10.00. It can be shared, so as a buddy system can be established with the partner.

Items can be new, old/antiques, or used. Price them to sell. You really don’t want to lug them back home.

So, come one come all. As vendors, buyers or just browsers. All are welcome.

From the previous posting we have re-confirmed participants :-

Tables are now 4′ x 2′  { not 4′ x 5′ } at $5.00 per, at half the actual cost of rental

Looking for Montfort School classmates

I started my Primary One at Montfort School in 1962.  If you have been in this school for the six years of primary education and four years of Secondary, come join in.  I remembered some of us still have unfinished fights behind the wall, and the good old days when we go down Ponggol Road to catch "Bua Ki crabs".

For those who do not know, in those days, Montfort School is a boys school, all the way to Secondary Four.  Then, that’s when we get a shock to find girls during the next two years of Pre-U.  And, that’s when the results start to drop.

How to write a Post or start a new thread?

Some of you may be wondering how to initiate a new Post or a new thread?  As a SHC member, you can easily write a Post.  Can be almost any topic, club taboos should be noted.  If you have a thought and just like to share with other members, use the category "Reflections".  Do not repeat a Post.

Post should be categorised, or the Post may not be published.

When a member responds to your Post, you will get an email alert.  Please reply to that member on this forum.  Members who start a Post, and fail to reply those who respond to their Post within 30 days, would be deleted from the club membership.  This ensures the database is kept updated.

Have fun.

  • Business project proposal and study

    Hi Terence and all ,

In response to your question what is possible in SHC for retirees to continue to be engaged in keeping themselves employed and offer their expertise and experience.

Project Proposal : Supply, Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of Two(2) Weather and Two(2) Air Quality Monitoring Stations in Jambi, Indonesia. Calling Entity National Environment Agency

If there is a company that is willing to finance this project and provide technical expertise, can SHC form a management pool of people to run, co-ordinate the phases from the construction face to the operational phase for 2 years in Indonesia ?

What are your views, consideration and are they people with relevant experience willing to undertake this as a retirement career ?
