“One night in Tokyo” – a Dinner & Dance SRC 20 Aug 2022

REGISTRATION FOR SHC DND IS CLOSED

WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, REGISTERED MEMBERS BUT YET TO PAY FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE CHARGED AS $70/PAX AND WE WILL CLOSE PAID REGISTRATION ONCE WE REACHED 100 PAXS.

We are starting planning. “One night in Tokyo” is a Dinner & Dance. It is part of a series of SHC cabaret nights overseas. We had organised One night in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Batam, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, johor Bahru, Chinatown and Taipei last 15 years.

Key activities about this year “One night in Tokyo” include
* Songs, singing, food, dress, drinks and the bartenders all ready to serve the guests.

* All up to our dreams.
* Every guest must be dressed up, made up.

The Club is recruiting mamasans, bartenders, Japanese singers, kimono singers, bouncers, cashiers, Japanese VJs, a HR manager and two Japanese/Mandarin comperes M & F.

The owner of the Cabaret is now asking help to find a suitable cabaret name. Preferable not the regular dance places.

We will decide a date after a brainstorm session to dream about our Tokyo club opening ceramony.

1. Place in Singapore : Singapore Recreation Club
2. Target 80 – 100 pax
3. Prefer Japanese and Singaporean food. Can be catered or by venue location.
4. Live Band or programmed music.

5. Japanese songs priority.
6. 1st segment – 1 hrs Japanese. 2nd segment – international.

First step, we find a venue with dance floor first.

Second, date Sat 20 Aug 2022

Pls help find a place. Preferably asap. Various members have offered to look out for the venue. Thank you.

Moving on with Paperclips

Hi Paperclips members,

It has always been my hope that Silverhairs members are able to find like-minded friends. Since the club started in 2005, our activities are generally participated by about 80% females and 20% males. However the Club itself has registered about 60% females and 40% males. The question has always been why the inbalance.

As we get older, especially after leaving full time work, our colleagues carry on their lives. Nowadays, many senior club members find that our children are having their own family life. And for some, they leave the nest home. For others, our spouses leave us naturally, either through a divorce or to another world.

At some time, we are all left alone, with an empty apartment, no one to have lunch and dinner with. We have time to travel, but we are unable to find someone with common interest. Obviously, no one to chat, go out with, hold hands together, go to a cinema together or travel to nearby countries together.

Very often, we then try to keep busy. Spend time with grandchildren. Watch Korean movie or roam Changi Jewel alone. Better still, some find our local kopitiam a place where we can debate the budget or find out more about CPF life from neighbours.  Being lonely may meancinemagoing to the senior’s cinema alone or whiling time at shopping centres.

I had hope that SilverHairsnima Club will be a platform for members to find new friends. If you are single, divorced, widowed or “singles again”, we like to help you find partners, whatsapp PAPERCLIPS  to 9489 4360.

Sunday Entrepreneurship @10am

My fellow SHC members
Now that more restriction will be lifted from 29 March, there may be more opportunities lie ahead.
We are here to share ideas and if we can contribute to society will be perfect.
The whole idea is to develop a system or business model and get the youngsters to get involve.
One example is the XXX Fried rice. The founder created the recipe and develop a system. He engaged young people to run the business.
Therefore do join the zoom tomorrow 10am, maybe someone up their has an idea, no idea is too ridiculous.
Thank you and look forward o speak to members tomorrow morning @10am

Thank You Terence for letting me had so many nice friends in SHC

We’re sending you all of the good and healthy vibes.

Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TO 2022

What will life with COVID-19 be like in 2022?  The coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing, complications leave questions outstanding but our life still goes on. Stay POSITIVE!

As we begin to enter the New Year 2022, I just pray that all SHCians family and friends stay healthy, happy and blessed. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

SallyF

What a wonderful world!

I just like to share this beautiful song from Louis Armstrong. It brings reminder to all the good things we had and it just great to be alive. To be able to hug, to hold and to have. The good things we have done are always forgotton but the bad are never forgotten. And who was it who said to “offer the other cheek”?

https://youtu.be/rBrd_3VMC3c

I just joined the “Zipper Club” Had my triple bypass on December 2 and on the road to recovery. Now I am more familiar with term like stent, balloon. An open heart operation is something to reckon with and it something more and more people would come to term with.

I was warded at TTS Hospital on November 20 and transferred to National Heart Centre till today. I just can’t wait to go home, it so boring here.

Desperate Dan.

Renting in JB for stay, for trial one year

5. Target budget, including 1 year rental, electricity, water and part time help.

I have only 2 rooms left to share. To join us, deposit for 3 mths rental SGD 900.

6. Estimated start of stay Nov 2022.

How much do you know about DECEMBER?

The 12th and final month of the year in our modern-day Gregorian Calendar. However, did you know it was originally the 10th month of the Roman calendar until 153 BC. Hence, December comes from the Latin word decem, meaning “ten”.  Later, the months of January and February were created out of the monthless period and added to the beginning of the calendar, but December retained its name.

Born in December are considered special, according to science. They are either Sagittarius or Capricorn. Sagittarians are known to be extremely generous, idealistic, and downright hilarious.

Five (5) scientifically proven benefits of being born during the holiday season: –

  1. They are more likely to live longer – higher chances of living up to the age of 105, or even longer.
  2. They are less irritable – being born in winter months, showed fewer temper tantrums which means they are nicer people.
  3. They are pretty healthy – have a lower risk of developing major health conditions, including cardiovascular disease.
  4. They are a morning person – though there are plentiful ones born in other months, born in December tend to follow this golden rule – Early to Bed, and Early to Rise.
  5. They are Rare – it’s a fact that babies are considered rare, especially if they are born on Christmas Day, December 25, making it more special.

On behalf of SilverHairsClub – we would like to wish those SHCians born to this month a wonderful HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

PS – do drop a line or 2 to greet them a joyous month!
