November – 2 months to Countdown

We have only 2 months left before 2021 wraps up to make way for 2022 – what a year it has been.  Singapore is shining bright this month with that extra sparkle, our streets are once again dressed to with magnificent lights and decorations, in celebration of Deepavali and Christmas.

TIME OUT – Things to do

Just to single out a few of the above instead of bottling yourself at home – of course our utmost care and concern is STAY HEALTHY n STAY SAFE.

What should I do for my birthday in November?

  • Do something on your Bucket List
  • Splurge yourself on a Treat
  • Take a day OFF whether from work or from your close ones
  • Spend the whole day doing 1 thing you haven’t had time to do

On behalf of SilverHairsClub – we would like to wish those SHCians born to this month a wonderful HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

PS – do drop a line or 2 to greet them a joyous month!

NO TRICK OR TREAT THIS HALLOWEEN

Halloween is lurking just around the corner but the coronavirus pandemic and current restrictions limit us from engaging such high-risk activity especially for the young ones.

Safe things to do on Halloween at home:-

  1. Watch Halloween Movie Marathon
  2. Candy Hunts with your grandchildren – hide it around your house or backyard for them to find
  3. Hold a Zoom costume party with loved ones abroad – get dressed up and see who is the most creative youngster
  4. Decorate Halloween themed face mask
  5. Tell a ghost story – really love the Legend of the Sleepy Hollow

Many more ideas you can think of to interact with your grandchildren.

We need to slow down current community transmission which have doubled or tripled over the past weeks. Do take extra precautions to safeguard the wellbeing of our seniors as well as juniors and to seek medical attention immediately if they are unwell.

Just stay in on Halloween, let’s work together to help stop the spread of coronavirus and protect our family.

Collecting commision from advertising, promoting, introduction or selling products or services to SHC members

It has come to my attention that some members get a commission when introducing other members to external courses including skills development or skill credits courses.

In concept, it sounds like “Why not?” when the cause is good.

SHC was developed as a free platform. It incurs costs in operating the Club.  However, some members are unwilling to contribute to a SHC startup operating fund. And they use our members and forum to advertise and collect monetary benefits in return.

The club will be reviewng this situation.

Happy Birthday SEPTEMBER-Born

What is special about being born in September?

They are either a Virgo or a Libra, and both of these signs are regarded to be a realist – kind and selfless approach to life. They are also more sociable, harmonious and love to help those in need!

We talk a little bit more about…… VIRGOANs

Virgos are known for being gifted n “attention to detail” person.  They can be finicky and critical to a fault, call them a Clean Freak.

Librans are diplomatic balance-seekers who appreciate fairness. Intelligent n kind, always put others before themselves.

Below are the Personality Traits That Make Them Charming (in a way…)

  • Open-minded, may get anxious at times
  • Quite polite, may get bored quite easily
  • Want things to be done in their way
  • Fond of books, work hard to achieve their goals
  • Quite affectionate towards others
  • Hate wasting food

Do you see all these similarity behaviors within your friends? Well, if you do, please wish them a delightful birth month.

On behalf of SilverHairsClub……….

PS – do drop a line or 2 to greet them a joyous month!

Celebrating NDP from our HOME

Though limitations might mean a toned-down National Day this year, there are still a variety of ways we can celebrate and show our national pride at home, be it virtual and some gathering amongst families.

However, do try to minimize the numbers in group outings and also try to keep to the restrictions set to avoid potential exposure to the virus.

For gatherings with closed ones at home – most F&B Outlets can only open for takeaway and/or delivery during this period and as for dining-in do look out for the latest announcement.

Let your fingers do the walking and explore how you can bring NDP nearer to you. Click on the link to discover more… be it, to catch the moments in person or through live broadcasts over our coloured gogglebox and online platforms – a list of activities to be engaged through out your day.

SHC team of Weekend Warriors Zoom Meeting with Vintage Radio – 30 July

On the morning of 30 July, SHC team of past and future weekend warriors had a zoom session with Aloysius and Kevin of Vintage RadioSG. Many of our members were also with us to enjoy the morning chit chat with our guests.  Hopefully, they will be inspired to be the future weekend warriors.

It was a reunion for past warriors who had the great experience to deejay a recording session with Aloysius and his team. All we needed to do is to showcase our 10 favorite songs and what the songs meant to us. Under Aloysius’ guidance, we sounded calmed and collected, making the whole session fun and we looked cool.

It was indeed a privileged for me to be their pioneer WW in Nov 2020. I shared the thrilling experience with our members in our zoom sessions, many have participated and have received great compliments. Two members will be called shortly for their recordings.

Aloysius updated us on what’s happening on the Vintage Radio and its various platform whereby seniors can take a peek at his/her own leisure.  E.g National Silver Academy , C3A and the videos covering NSA e-Nuggets series.

Do check in the zoom recording to hear what we discuss and gain more exposure from Vintage Radio.

Take this opportunity to say “Yah! I wanna to be a deejay, and be heard over the soundwave, have the opportunity of play my favourite songs.”

Make this your next challenge in your bucket list. Life is more interesting as we explore new boundaries.

Do let me know and we get in touch.

Thanks.

Personality Traits of August-born That Make Them Exceptional

Those born in August are either Leos or Virgos. They are very strong people, physically and mentally, undeniably strong-willed, confident and some says proud…  Thanks to the combination of 2 great sets of personality traits.

What kind of person is your LEO friend? A passionate, warm-hearted, humorous and cheerful individual fun to be with – this “King of the Jungle” rules with self-confidence, dominant and irresistible…

Virgoans, on the other hand, do have appealing personality traits – explicitly, organized, precise and detailed-oriented. They are dependable and also practical people.  They are charismatic too but theirs is a quiet charisma.

Some said to be arrogant yet humble. Straightforward and honest – they are friends who will never sugarcoat anything and only choose those worthies of their time. And if they love you, they really do and will give you all they have.

If you have any friends in mind who fit the August bill, please do wish them a wonderful birthday month.

On behalf of SilverHairsClub – we’d like to wish all the August babies an amazing month.

PS – do drop a line or 2 to all who are celebrating their annual natal day…
