Soccer Investment Advisory-EPL

I am on a yellow card to do a max of 15 lines. My 1st prediction(a little biased but based on last season’s results with due respect to the newbie lady who is as yet untested) is that Gary Lim of the Newpaper will top the Newpaper panel and the locals will again outshine the expats).

One tip for SHC readers  is to use a results charts based on last season’s results on home games only and a separate chart on away games only .Good ref publications like Football Weekly and Newpaper are useful as a guide but I have one bugbear of their format of presenting info. eg in their head to head column they present actual  past results of matches between both featured teams with no regard to who is playing at home and who is playing away. The Hill  City vs Fulham match is a good example; 1 away win and 2 draws. As  a pundit I am not interested in past Fulham(at Home) vs Hull City(away) results.I would rather know more of the results in previous years when Hull City were playing at home.

Take Arsenal $30 on the 1.5 goals.Take Spurs  $30 to win on the 1 X 2 and Hull City vs Fulham take $30 on the draw.Take $10 on the draw-draw on the HT/FT on the Hull City match and $10 on draw/away on the Spurs match.Take into consideration that "artificial  bad luck " (clue – something to do with Kukup trip on 23rd Aug.)If anybody has a different opinion do post it in this forum before the start of matches.I will post my analysis of other matches later as on thin ice – – – 15 lines axe.Go slow on 1st weekend.Good Luck!!!$$$

Watching Club, Boleh?

We have the Reading Club. Perhaps we can also have Watching Club. Actually I m talking about watching movies. I believe there is good potential here 2 start one. Members can come 2gether 2 share movie reviews, exchange movies or even watching movies 2gether.

For a start, I have 2 dvd movies 2 loan out –

  1. The Host, a Korean production (Mandarin with English subtitles)

I m interested to borrow shows like CSI (Las Vegas, New York n Miami), if u do have.

Death

Now that we are in the 7th Moon period when the dead is walking among us. I wander how they are. Perhaps they have their monthly meetings just like SHC or do they do it once a year and always on earth. Do they have a blog to decide where to meet? Who is their blog administrator?

Death is for sure. Unfortunately we do not know when, that is why we have a hard time planning for retirement. It will be so much easier for us to decide how much to spend each month if we know when we don’t need the money any more. Most of us end up living poor and dieing rich.

  • At which stage do you consider yourself dead?
  • When you heart stops beating?
  • When your brain stops processing signals?
  • When you cannot recognize you spouse and children?
  • When you defecate on yourself because you are not able to go to the loo? or
  • When you stop enjoying sex?

Modern medicine is able to give us longer life. But how many needles and tubes do they need to insert into you before you consider yourself dead? Are we living a longer life or just dieing a slower death?

Most of us do not fear death but are afraid of pain. When we are enjoying, the Teochews call it ‘Hor Si’ which literally means ‘good death’. Should we than concerntrate on how to have a good death rather than long life?

We are all over 45 years old, some of us may live over another 45 years but we WILL die. I think it is time to learn how to have a ‘Hor Si’. We should do it like planning another holiday. I always enjoy my holidays.

Mid Autumn Free Gang Bang, @ NSRCC 12 & 13 Sept

Hi all ,

The Bungalow at NSRCC will be an open house to all SHC members to drop in anytime just to gang bang with all other SHC members.  So feel free to drop in with a few other members etc.  Come and bring whatever you want to share , either a story, a scrabble game, carrom game, card games , mah jong, titbits, etc.

It will be free except for the events that are already organised as follows:-

  • Friday Pm – Golf game at NRSRCC,
  • Friday Pm – Bungalow is totally free – for anything, scrabble , maj jong ,etc
  • FRiday Eve – Love of Country Music and Line Dance Event, $5 free coffee, tea, and Meal (Mini Potluck bring something to share)
  • Sat Pm – ‘Hair Cutting Class’ from 2 to 4 pm  , $5 free coffee , tea ,
  • Sat Night (inside Bungalow) – Social Dance and Line Dance, etc
  • Sat Night ( Beach outside) – Free and carefree Pot Luck and Camping event, bring your tent, lantern, fishing rod and join Terence , Douglas and others.  There will be a campfire (lantern) sing a long session till early hours. BYOB and snacks, etc.

Only charge will be $5 for each Indoor event for the whole day, except golf and other activities provided by the club like bowling, canoeing, etc.  Chalet rooms are available for bookings.

But for anyone who is free and just want to drop in with a group of frends to play cards, scrabble, carrom,  or mah jong please feel free to do so and just drop in and have this gang bang.  Terence may have an orgy at the beach in the wee hours, whatever that means.

Please take note, I will not be making any money from this event and whatever is collected hopefully can pay for the rental of the bungalow which will amount to about $500 , with GST and electricity, water chargers.  I am willing to cover this total cost as part of giving back what I have enjoyed from SHC for the last 2 years.  However what I hope is that what i can collect back can be used to book another chalet again for Dec, in this way I hope that there can be a sort of Chalet activity every quarterly, that is close to being free to all SHC members.

So for all those SHC members who want to have a place to share your interests, games or stories in a nice resort enrvironment, please feel free to do so. It will be free, but you have to give way to the main events, by moving to other areas, like the swimming pool, beach area, etc around the resort. But if there is nothing going on in the bungalow you are free to enjoy the air-con.   Cheers.

  • Cost/material for shoes or T-shirt: $12.00
  • Those who come for pinic (food only) – $5.00/person

(members are to bring their own T-shirt)

I am going to have a craft class of "Fabric Painting" and am thinking very hard of where can I hold this event.

Added 3 more photos of 1) Black Top, 2) Jean n Black Top n 3) Shoes which can be viewed here – http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/lohyks/Karen%20Thio/?albumview=slideshow

Han Cafe is not going to take our nonsense anymore after making so much noise and effecting the other customers dinning in the Cafe ( even with 20 members on the last craft day , we are rather noisy-haha).
I would like to hold this fabric painting class at "Singapore Botanic Garden". While waiting for the "project" to dry , we can chat and have a pinic at the green green grass of land with plenty of fresh air .
Members can have the choice of painting on a pair of shoes , T-shirt or both. I will provide the paints and some accessories for the design on the T-shirt (will advice material cost later).
Those who are interested , please sign into this post  . Members who are not joining in the craft , can come down and join us for the pinic and  we can have our evening chatting away freely.
Cost of the food will be share among the members or I will collect $5 for food and need some of the members to help buy some Yummy food/snacks  for the pinic.
Thanks for your support and please do give me any suggestion if u have for the craft or the pinic.

Those who are still interested to make the ANgels/Butterfly can come down and join us as well, I still have some stock of the crystal. If members need to re-do their angels from the last class , please bring it along with u.

SHC Monthly Meeting

Hans is an OK place to have our monthly meetings but I yearn for a place with notebook computer access. For lack of a better place I am recommending our members to do an online petition to persuade our founder to use Scorebot for our next meeting as it has internet facilities. While it’s seating capacity is limited it has enough standing capacity to create an informal  and cosy atmosphere.  Our founder is reluctant to do so because of conflict of interest but if members can persuade him in this thread I am sure he may reconsider! Our founder feels "pai sei" or awkward as he has a vested interest in the prosperity of the outlet but as long as we get a fair and good deal I strongly feel its a win -win situation for all parties. If unconvinced I would suggest we use it as a base and hangout for members until we are able to find other suitable places with internet access and than we can rotate and come back to Scorebot on alternate months or use it in lieu of unavailability of suitable locations."What say you fellow SHC members?"…support a good cause!

In the meantime any suggestions for other suitable locations with internet access? Is anybody a member of any country club who can negotiate use of one of their outlets or unutilised ballroom for one of their slow nights since it is a weekday usually.

Looking for SHCians who love singing Hokkien songs only

No promises yet, but I am looking for guys and gals who loves to sing Hokkien songs.  Am thinking of one evening, gather around, just to singalong Hokkien songs.  If you have the K’OK discs or music VCDs, so much the better.

So, for a start, if you can be available on a weekday, no day decided yet, after work, and loves to sing Hokkien songs, and enjoy the company of others listening to you, raise your hands.  Maybe I will cook up something next month.

I kept thinking one D&D per year is just no enough!!!…So let’s do a survey..(l copy cat the Malacca drivein:-)). How abt another D&D nite? Let’s say end Sep (6 mths away frm the Mar 08 D&D). This one to be casual. Everyone in jeans (pants, bermudas, shorts, skirts) anything JEANnie….with lots of silver accessories :-)))

A funky nite for the young at heart. Ribs, chicken and salad for food, to down with lots of beer and ice lemon tea!!!. On a Saturday nite pls. Tentative prog…Getting to know fellow members better and makan – 1 hr. Have some games, haha time – 1 hr. Dance Dance Dance – 3 hrs!!!!

Then fare thee well. If yes, where do we hold this Saturday nite FEVER?? think this is the main problem…getting a place!!! Oh btw, if this goes through, I will not b the EO :-))) but no problem to help/assist/support lah. EOs do the "dirty" work and do not enjoy that much, they worry more:-)).

Here again, I salute all EOs, the past ones, the present ones and the future ones!!! So folks..don’t be shy, speak your mind (I copy cat Terence :-))…Doable? Boleh jadi? Ker ee mah? Aa sai boh?

2nd SHC Flea Mart – Thur 1st May 2008

Hi everybody,

The last Flea mart attracted about 20 tables, along Bali Lane.  A few of the earlier vendors will be taking part in the 2nd Flea mart.  The date is Thur 1st May, from 3p.m to 8p.m.

SHC Flea Mart coordinator is Jasmmine Teo.  All SHC coordinations will be done via Jassmine, in collaboration with KT Wong.  There is also a large Flea mart event going on during the same period, and Bali Lane is expecting to attract huge crowds.

The cost per table is $10; and KT will look at how to lower the cost for SHC members.  There is massive publicity over this holiday and weekend.

If you would like to take part, please raise your hand.  Registration on this forum is strictly for SHC members only.   Any question, please pose it here; and JassmineT and/or KT Wong will answer you here.

Have fun, guys and gals.

Terence Seah/Jassmine Teo/KT Wong

  • For those driving, car park rate at Pearls Centre after 5pm is $2.50/entry

  • +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

UPDATES – April 14’08

I had make a reservation for 25paxs to be there ard 8.15pm onwards.  However, kindly ntoe that from 7pm – 9pm, there is no ladies nite offer, i.e no free housepour.  Hence, Ladies, pls order at least 1 drink for a start since they will be on bar price which is not expensive at all considering the fact that after 9pm, it’s free all the way to 2am.  No reservation at all on/after 9pm at all as they are expecting much crowd since it is a Ladies Nite.

Sorry, Ladies, if you are not ordering any dirink before 9pm, suggest that you come in only slightly after 9pm and there might not have any seats available ok.  Have to be fair to those who pay for the drinks.

For those not too sure where is the venue and attending the SHC monthly gathering at Han’s Cafe, we will walk together to this as there is no bus service going there.  Will try to appoint coordinators to help out.

For those not going for the mthly gathering, pls meet at Outram MRT outside entrance facing direction to Eu Tong Seng Street, will arrange coordinators to meet you there at 8.00pm.  Pls let me know who will be there so that we can do a headcount.  Nevertheless, those who are going on their own, pls feel free to contact me.  Email me at dlgummy@hotmail.com for my mobile contact. emoticon

Hi All,
Glad to know that the all responses for this good is so overwhelming for those who had missed out the 2008 DnD and those who still felt that you hv not got enough dancing.  Details as follows:

Venue: Narcissus Thai Disco/Live Band (100 Eu Tong Sen Street #04-01 Pearl Centre)  www.narcissus.sg
Date: Thu, 17 Apr ’08 (Ladies nite = Free flow of housepour fro 9pm – 2am)emoticon
Operating hour: 7.00am – 3.am (of cos, we can choose to leave early la)emoticon

For guys, all drinks will be on bar price and best still, there is happy hours from 7pm – 9pm

Seating arrangement is ard 6-8pax in each table but I supposed it should be alright to sit 10paxs, I will check if we are able to reserve at least 2 tables for that nite as I m not sure if we are able to do during Ladies Nite.  Resv, call 94563292 after 3pm.
