We have recently done a clean-up of our membership database. I have
been very pleased with the returns in the last two weeks, especially with
verifying membership details. Many duplicated membership have been
removed.
The latest count is 5,250 live individual members. Out of this total,
about 2,300 members read the club’s forum regularly. So, we
can see there is a difference between those who read the club
forum, those who are inactive members and those who are regular
participants.
One of our weakness is our inability to chat and interact with those who are
members, but are inactive, for different reasons. Very few active
members volunteer or raise their hands to befriend this silent group. I
do not know why.
However, I am glad to see members like Jassmine Teo, Frisna Tan and YatSing
put in effort to voice out for this silent group. Joy Chuang is also
looking after a group. Some of us may think there is not much we can do,
for those who are busy, shy and afraid to join the more senior and active
ones. But, if you can do a little, this will be go a long way to
welcome the quieter ones.
Our EOs for different activities have done a good job maintaining their
activities.
So, again, if you are a member, have been participating in SHC
activities, and have not been an EO, please consider doing your part to be a
Befriender. You only need to take care of 10 – 20 members. I
hope to see you raise your hand.
