Start 2011 with a burst of laughter

Start the new year with a hearty laugh – hahahahahahah

Folks – Have a wonderful new year filled with laughter.

During the one day JB day trip, several members who remembered that I was the EC for a laughter exercise, asked me – Is the laughter exercise held every Tuesday at Hort Park, still on-going?  YES – it is, but the venue has recently changed. I’m putting up this post for those who are interested:

Venue: Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Date and time: Every Tuesdays, 6.30pm to 7.00pm

Laughter exercise spot: A stone’s throw from the MAIN ENTRANCE GATE.

Walk to the Green Pavilion. There is a patch of nicely lawned grass. This is it.

FAQs:

What to wear: Wear light, loose-fitting clothes, and flatties.

Suitable for whom: young or old, men or women, short or tall, fat or thin. Especially suitable for people who would like to de-stress.

How to enjoy your experience: Plan to arrive at 5.30pm (optional), take a stroll to enjoy the garden. At 6.20pm, stroll toward the Green Pavilion. Ms Zaibun (the laughter exercise facilitator) starts promptly at 6.30pm. The laughter exercise ends at 7pm. You may wander off to stroll some more around the garden. Some friends take the opportunity to catch dinner together. Some who came alone, and appeared to be burdened with troubled thoughts, will smile and wave good-bye quietly. Free and easy.  Really. Do as you please. No one will cajole you, preach to you about the benefits of laughter.

You will discover the benefits yourself. Give yourself a chance to find that out.

This laughter session is really “free and easy”. Literally.  Free – Zaibun does this for free. Easy – The exercise is easy to follow; no registration required.

A little note here: Zaibun is a trained laughter facilitator. Big companies and organization pay big bucks to hire laughter facilitators to conduct “laughing sessions” for their employees. Their purpose is to help their employees to de-stress and thereby be happier and more productive.

For maximum benefit: remember to laugh out loud. Exhale completely, inhale fresh air… bringing oxygen to every cells…

Many participants have noticed that their well-being have improved markedly. For more information, do read the “older posts” on laughter exercise. Those posts were made by Vivian Lai, Sylvia Ang, and Jacqueline Han. Or, google for “laughter yoga” “laughter exercises”.

Should you decide to check this out, do indicate your interest here. And just in case you cannot find us, you may like to have my mobile number. Email jacqhan@gmail.com. Don’t be shy shy.

Sad…movies always make you cry…

The year 2010 is coming to an end. So many things have happened that may have an impact in our life. We are thankful for Terence’s foresight in starting this Club. I would like to share  some of the simple thing in live that kept me motivated and striving to add life and vibrancy to Silverhairs Club.

Many have come forward to share their visions and expectancy for this Club and we wish to see more active participation from more member. It takes gut to share your deep feeling and not being afraid of rejection and criticism.

For the whole of this year I can say that this is the best movie I have watched. The title is ‘Aftershock’ ,about the life of a family reelings from a decision a mother make whether to save the son or the daughter. I thought it would be a boring show and almost fall asleep. But as the movies unfolds I could not withhold my tears after tears!

This movies was suggested by Joy and she highly recommended that we watch together. I am not shy of the tears as I believes it help to remove toxins from our life.

It would be good to hear member coming forward to share with us here wat movies or things or events that caused an uplifting of our souls and will be an inspiration to others.

GREETINGS FROM SIEM REAP CAMBODIA

Hi S’pore SHC members !!

1- As  mentioned in my  earlier postings – this is my 5th day in Siem Reap Cambodia involved in a village Farm project – though originally was to teach – but the School had been  taken over " by many Australian volunteers helping out from A to Z aspects of the village school.

The local director was far-sighted and told me to start a self-sustained Farm etc… projects to be able to get income on their own without relying sloely on current foreign aid ($$$$) which may one day not coming in anymore … !!! I fully agree with them – so we are on our way ……. include sale of local handicrafts etc …..

3- Any one keen to visit Siem Reap Cambodia from 2 March 2011 – while I am here ?? Book your own flight- I will arrange all lodging + food + tours etc … in Siem Reap + beyond !!!  just let me know your days/ nights in S. Reap

Foot for taut in JB – December 17, 2010

Dear folks,emoticon

It’s all started with Tian Soo’s post on foods and after several foods outing we decided to explore further. Along came Daniel Chan’s idea of seeking massage kakis so we decided to merge the two together and ended up with going beyond our boundary.

When I asked Daniel Chan for an apt heading, he coined the caption above. The response is pretty good for a weekday event. It’s the time of the year where most are in a festive mood. So here we are all ready to conquer JB.

This will be a full day affair. We are going for massage, curry fish head lunch, shopping and either Beggar’s Chicken or Zi char or seafood dinner, you decide!

Meet at 9.00am at Kranji MRT, we will take a bus in to City Square and take taxis to Holiday Plaza. There is also a new Shopping Centre and ‘chomp chomp’ nearby. Dun worry about the white cards as we will get them at the Malaysian immigration point.

Registration will closed when we hit 20 pax. Group leaders will be, Dan, Daniel, James and Lawrence.

Handicrafts’ Expert : Any1 care to teach!

Hi Handicraft SiFu-Men,
Care to teach those who are interested in handicrafts – Pls come forward to coach those that are willing to learn.  I remembered during those days at the past monthly gatherings, we have some voluntary members that came forward to teach handicrafts.  During those times, we do not have a venue to cater for this kind of events hence at times, it is very difficult organize such events.

These days, we have a venue (MPH Cafe) available for this purpose almost every Saturdays.  Thus, those that are willing to impart their handicrafts to fellow members, pls contact me at dlgummy@hotmail.com so that I can make arrangement to cater for this.

Though handicraft is never my cup of tea cos got clumsy fingers la but I like to watch demonstration ongoing..

Hope to hear from you soon from here… Cheers… Dolly

More Card Tricks – Thomas Lau & Sifu Lim

Hi All SHC Members,
I am sure that for the past couple of weeks, couple of members have learnt from both Thomas and Sifu Lim a trick or 2 in cards.   For this coming Sat, both of you are again come to the Cafe again to impart their knowledge of card tricks.

As spoken with Thomas, he had promised that there will be no repeated tricks every time he come to cafe from this Sat onwards.  However, for those that need extra training on the tricks that have been taught previously but yet to understand fully, both of them will revise them upon request before the new card trick is being taught, i.e. for the 1st hour, both of them will revise the previous trick as requested.

So those interested to learn more about card tricks, start register now.. Registration limited to 15paxs only due to space constraints.  I would appreciate for those attendees to try to be on time as it would be unfair for those early and 1 of the Sifu have to give personal coaching for late comers – Like that, will only encourage more latecomers from time to time lor.. right :)

Class starts from 11am to 2.00pm.

  1. Thomas Lau
  2. Sifu Lim

Fortune cookies – Do you know what it is?

I am not sure how many of us have seen a fortune cookie.  Guess those who have patronised Chinese restaurants in the West, would know what a fortune cookie is.  Last week, I was glad to join the good company of Hou Chong, Tian Soo and CharlesC.  We ate at an Asian restaurant.  Food was so so; but what attracted me was a bottle of fortune cookies.

Bought one; but was finally given to me free by the owner.  Broke the shell, and inside was a strip with the words "Soon, you will meet more elders …"  Well, I like it.

Do you make fortune cookies? or can you make them? Say, maybe 250 pcs at a time.  I was thinking that this would be great idea for restaurants.   Please let me know, I would like to get in touch with you.

Chinese New Year is coming!

Time of the year to give calendars and diaries

Nowadays, it is very difficult to be given a desktop or wall calender.  Probably, the cost of producing calendars are just too high.  So, companies dont give.  Well, some of you may be lucky or your companies are doing well.  They may give up diaries and calendars.  But, some of you may not want to use diaries; instead you use PDAs and smartphones.  The luckier ones may receive exotic calendarsl, and dont want them too.  Probably too shy to hang them on the wall.

Well, dont throw them away or keep for 2012.  If you have a calendar, wall or desktop, or a pocket diary or desktop diary that you dont one, please mention here.  Bring them to any of the gatherings between now and end of 2010.  I am sure some souls will love it.

So, dont throw away the new diaries or calendars.  Time of the year to share.
